Can you tell a Christina from a Fourchette or a Triangle?

This lens is about women's genital piercings.  It has descriptions of the various placements along with pictures showing some representative piercings, including clitoral hood piercings, the fourchette, and labia rings.

Clitoral Hood Piercing

One of the most common female body piercings is the clitorial hood piercing. This piercing comes in two variations, the horizontal and the vertical, and is also sometimes nicknamed "The Queen Christina."

Essentially, placement of the jewelry is such that the body jewelry will rub across the clitoral nub. For women who have a pronounced clitoris, they might prefer a horizontal hood piercing, so that the bead of a captive ring then presses down or rubs on their clit. If a woman's clitoris is well-hooded, she might prefer a vertical piercing, so that the ring or barbell bar itself rubs across the clitoris. Healing time expectancies for this piercing is about four to six weeks on average.

Captive Bead Rings

a easy-to-wear and secure style of body jewelry

Because of the soft tissue and ample blood supply found in the genital area, these sexy body piercings are often much easier and faster to heal then something like the common nose piercing.  Because of the constant friction from clothing and intimate contact with the body, jewelry material such as surgical stainless steel and gold are highly-recommended as they do not tarnish or discolor.  Titanium and niobium jewelry can sometimes lose their colorful finishes over time, and low-grade metals such as silver, brass and nickel are entirely inappropriate.

The captive bead ring is the most popular style of body piercing jewelry. It works well in genital piercings, is secure and doesn't snag the way a barbell can. Here are a vareity of sizes and metals.

Please note that niobium sometimes looses its anodized coating over time when worn in genital piercings due to friction and contact with body fluids.

Clitoral Piercing

Actual clitoral piercings are highly debated in the body piercing community and it often come down to personal choice. Some people feel that to try piercing such a concentrated nerve bundle is potentially dangerous whereas others say it's no more or less dangerous than other piercings. After all, we are talking about as many nerve endings as you find in the head of a penis, but the surface area is reduced to the average size of a pencil eraser.

Most women do not have enough clitoral development to make piercing of this nub of tissue and nerves really possible, but you can find accounts on the internet and you will occasionally meet women who swear by their clit piercings.

Fourchette

This more modern female piercing is sometimes described by some as the women's equivalent to the men's guiche. The Fourchette piercing is placed at the back of the vaginal opening. I've seen this one done both where piercing goes through the vaginal wall slightly and exits through the perineum as well as the placement shown here which is entirely though the perineum.

This piercing can take three to four months to heal fully.

Labial Piercings

Labial piercing offers a lot of variety depending on the woman's personal anatomy. Both labia minora and labia majora can be pieced, provided tissue development is adequate. Some women may only be able to support one type or the other, and some may find they can have both pierced.

Barbell or ring-style jewelry is possible, with sizing and the number of piercings entirely dependant on personal preference and comfort. Healing times for these piercings range from six to eight weeks for inner labia, and about nine to twelve weeks for outer labia.

Female Genital Piercing
The concept behind female genital piercings (as with male genital piercings) is to enhance. Common placements as described below do NOT prevent sexual activities, but are meant to stimulate and arouse. These enhancements are also placed to call attention to the ornamented areas and foster beauty and appreciation.

Triangle Piercing

The Triangle isn't quite a clit piercing or a clit hood piercing. This piercing was designed to be a ring that is pierced into a small space just behind the main clitoral nub, that is to say, for women who have this spacing as part of their genital structure. Movement of the ring then presses on the clit nub outside the body and exerts pressure on the clitoral bundle from inside the body as well.

A rare piercing that defintely requires an experienced piercer as well as anatomy that allows for the piercing. Healing time is estimated at two to three months.

Many people report that navel and nipple piercing hurts more than genital piercings, as those go through thicker and tougher body tissues.
