Hair pieces for women and men for that matter, go back to the start of recorded history. Early Egyptians used to shave their and wear hair pieces, not for religious ceremonies or festive occasions, but to protect their heads from the scorching sun.

Both men and women wore hair pieces. The style for that era was page boy, braided style. As time went on hair pieces continued to be worn to demonstrate wealth and importance. Wigs were even worn in battle to intimidate the enemy.

As time went on, up to today's age, wigs and hair pieces became less popular. Today they are worn after chemo, parties, etc. Men were hair pieces to cover their baldness while women continue to enjoy the wearing of wigs and now hair extensions.
