When choosing your wood market umbrella, there are some features you should look for first. One of the most important is the actual material. This is where you have to be really careful, because some less than honest umbrella sellers out there will supply sub-standard wood or less than desirable engineering.
Two types of GREAT patio umbrella wood is Teak and Kampus.
Kampus Hardwood is in the Teak Family, however features a much deeper shade, and is especially known for red and darker brown hues. Found in Asia, Kampus Hardwood is known for stability and durability, and stands up particularly well to outdoor climates and conditions.
Teak Wood is famous over the world for it's strength and ever changing patina. Teak wood is exceptional for outdoor use, because it maintains strength and durability, as well as it's performance in outdoor conditions. Of course, Teak is well known for it's aging properties. If ever there was something the knew how to age gracefully, it wood be Teak.
Teak takes on a silvery patina as it ages. Exposure to outdoor elements does nothing to it's strength or durability, but it's exterior darkens to beautiful shades of silver and gray.
