Wood Stove Pipe Install Tips
However, if you have already bought a wood stove pipe, you should consider following point when installing it.
When thinking of taking your wood pipes through closets or ceilings, try to use chimney liners, as they reduce the risk of fire and keep you from facing smoke and heat issues.
Try not to place your wood pipes up the exterior wall of your house otherwise it will cool quickly than prefabricated metal chimney and there will an issue of rapid creosote build-up.
For heat protection, consider the option of creating a 3 1/2 inches brick wall around the edges. This will alleviate the risk of heat damage.
In order to avoid any fire risk, it is important to make sure that no combustive material is in close proximity to your wood stove. You can first test the reaction of a combustive material when putting it close to your stove.
Get a factory made pipe and install it after keeping a distance of at least 9 inches between outside chimney cap and outside wall.
For better results, always ensure there is no air leakage. Here, you can use steel connector sleeve at the time of doing final connections as it helps prevent the air leakage.
Last but not the least you should never forget to check your wood stove pipes on regular basis. Regular inspection will help you fix certain issues right on time. So, do keep this point in mind.
