Bunk bed arrangement is very simple because all you have to do is to stack one bed on top of another. 2 beds are taking the footprint of only one bed allowing you more space for other furniture.

5 tips you that may find helpful when building your own wooden bunk bed.

Go for hard wood. Hardwood tends to last longer because it is more resistant to impact and surface scratches. Generally hardwood are from maple, oak or cherry tree.

Standard bed size design only. Find out what is the dimension of bed mattress you will be using before you begin the construction of the bunk bed.

Barrier for upper bed. If you do, make side barriers for the upper bed. This is a safety feature to prevent you from rolling off the bed when sleeping. Falling off 5 or 6 feet from your bed to the ground may cause serious injuries.

Double check the joints. When you are make the wooden frame, make sure all the joints are tight. Loose connection will create annoying creaking sound.
