Musical Variety and the Biggest Hearts in the Business
WookieFoot is comprised of Mark Murphy, Walter "JoJo" Lash, Joe Mechtenberg, Scott Holtzinger, Matt Cartee, Aimee Willmoth, Megan Huycke, Marcus Schmid, and various other singers and hangers-on. Their world beat sounds pull together hip hop, reggae, Irish drinking songs, and straight rock-and-roll to create a sound that anyone can enjoy.
Who Are These WookieFoot Musicians?
Just what should I know about them? Why should I care?
Making a Difference, One Song at a Time
For the last three years, WookieFoot has been throwing music festivals dedicated to charity fund-raising. In the first three years, they raised over $137,000 through HarvestFest and the Project Earth Festival. They have been traveling the world over in search of projects like the American Refugee Committee and the Elephant Nature Foundation, organizations for whom a relatively small donation can make an enormous impact.2009 promises to be another banner year, as their fund raising totals have doubled each year. All administrative costs are donated by the band's members, including travel costs, so every penny that is raised at these events goes to deserving charities making a difference in the world at large. Whether it's an organic farm in Laos or an amputee orphanage in Cambodia, everything that these folks makes goes back out to help others.

Festival Dates and Other Appearances
Where and When You Can Catch WookieFoot Live
Project Earth was June 26th and 27th, 2009 and all 1,000 tickets sold out quickly. HarvestFest will take place September 10-13, 2009. If you can't wait that long, see WookieFoot at the 10,000 Lakes Festival with the Dave Matthews Band, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, Trampled by Turtles, Umphrey's McGee, and a pile of other amazing groups.Because WookieFoot dedicates so much of their time and energy to traveling the globe in search of ways to help people, you generally have to wait a long time between summer festival appearances. Don't despair, however, because the band takes part in the SnowBall over the winter. In 2009, the even included three days' worth of snowboarding, jam sessions, and concerts. Unfortunately, the dates for 2010 have not yet been set. I promise to include them here as soon as I can.
You can find more information or buy tickets for upcoming festivals and appearances on the band's MySpace profile. You can also get current WookieFoot news, listen to their music, watch videos, and buy their albums.

Lyrics for WookieFoot Songs
I'm still working up some lenses for these. Unfortunately, quality videos focusing on the music are difficult to find. Most celebrate feeling and form over sound. Here are the ones I have thus far. If you have a favorite that I haven't tackled yet, please drop me a note below. It takes a while to interpret some of the lyrics, so I'm doing them very slowly.-
