For most Wooly Willy and Hair-do Harriet are blasts from the past. Believe it or not kids still love them to this day and you would not believe how far they have come. Wooly Willy is a fun toy with the use of a magnetic wand and some metal shavings turn him into a hairy work of art you create over and over again.

Wooly Willy is a toy in which metal filings are moved about with a magnetic wand. Wooly Willy was originally manufactured in Smethport, Pennsylvania and was launched on the toy market in 1955. James Herzog found that dust from magnet grindings could be used for magnetic drawing and patented the first workable Magnetic Drawing set. It remains in production today and comes in many variations.
In 2003, the Toy Industry Association named Wooly Willy to its "Century of Toys List", a roll call of the most memorable and creative toys of the 20th century.
The original Wooly Willy cost 29 cents
Artist Leonard Mackowski designed Wooly Willy. He hid his name in the artwork, to the right of the mushroom on the back of every package.
