HERE'S WHAT I THINK
Wordpress vs Blogger
Which side of the blogging table are you on? Do you prefer Wordpress or Blogger? Which is better in your opinion?
I'm a Wordpress fan myself, but when I started I had all Blogger blogs. Both have their pros and cons. I'll present both their strengths and weaknesses here, and let you decide.

I have one blog on blogger and several on Wordpress. There is no comparison. Wordpress is much more versativel.

Wordpress works better for people who like to add creative touches. Blogger sites pretty much look the same. Wordpress allows extra HTML and widgets, and I've found ways to experiment with a new look. Lots more flexible. My photoblog is at Wordpress and my other blog is at Blogger, simply because I started out there first.

I think Wordpress is better. Blogger is OK if you running a personal blog and/or don't really care how much traffic you receive. If you're running a business blog, Wordpress rocks.

I use both. My recommendation in term of using. I would say wordpress has got more functionality and more options than Blogger.but I love'em both.

I agree with Derickkwa, I really do like blogger, but wordpress has way more options. I think blogger is the best blog for first time bloggers though.

I've used both before, but Wordpress gets the nod for me. They're both as easy to use, but Wordpress has got more functionality and more options. Blogger doesn't even have proper pages support.

OMG an either/or...I guess it depends. I started out with Blogger and have just tried Wordpress.com. I don't think my html skills etc are good enough to do really fancy stuff with Wordpress.org. For me Blogger is easy to set up and use with lots of widgets and you can montetise it easily. Wordpress.com makes things look very tidy and professional. Presently I'm 70% Blogger and 30% Wordpress...but things could change!

I use Blogger, but I can't say that I'm impressed with their customization. It's very easy to use though, and I haven't used Wordpress (yet), so I have to say Blogger.

I think Blogger is much better, but I haven't tried Wordpress on a domain I own. I have free blogs on Blogger and free Wordpress and the Blogger blog was the easier one to set up and customize.
I also enjoy finding other Squidoo Bloggers and using the follow feature to follow their blog. It feels similar to the fanclub on Squidoo, and you can show the blogs you are following as your blogroll.

Blogger is better. Easier to get started. Flexible. Free.
Wordpress has a few more powerful features, is a bit more complicated to install and use. If my clients wanted hired me as their Web professional, I would probably use Wordpress.
However, my clients want to be in control of their own content & web presence and Blogger is excellent for getting them started quickly and easily.

Blogger is by far easier for beginners and non-techie folks like me. I use both, but find that I post on my blogger blog more frequently -- just because it is simpler for me.

"The Scoop On Wordpress"
Pro-Wordpress Video!
The Pros of Using Wordpress
When I talk about Wordpress here, I'm going to talk about a self-hosted Wordpress blog, from Wordpress.org.1. The ability to customize your blog theme.
2. Wordpress is free, you only have hosting costs.
3. Most hosts offer one click installation through Akismet.
4. The Wordpress community has developed hundreds of plugins to help improve the Wordpress functionality.
5. You can choose from hundreds of free themes if you don't want to invest in a custom theme for your blog.
I Use Bluehost to Host My Wordpress Blogs
I've been using Bluehost
They also throw in a free domain with their $6.95 hosting package.

1. You have to pay to have your Wordpress blog hosted.2. Frequent releases of new versions.
3. Plugins are created, and maintained by 3rd parties, and are not supported by Wordpress itself if you encounter a problem.

- I say that these are both very overrated. Try FreeBlogZone.com.
They are pretty new, but extremely simple to use, they have a decent selection of templates, and are unique. They bring many new features to the internet that Blogger and Wordpress do not currently have. They have a great support team, and keep everybody updated with what is going on with the site.

- I'm on the fence. I'm relatively new to Wordpress and find it much harder to find plugins. The dashboard is also a mess compared to Blogger, but I agree, Blogger blogs don't look as good as Wordpress. Once I get the hang of it, I'm sure I'll say Wordpress, but right now the convenience of Blogger is great.

- Thanks for this lens, Linette, this is very useful for me. I'm new to blogging and had only set up my iWeb blog. I wanted to check out WordPress, and was surprised to find WordPress does have a free blog, which is often not mentioned in comparisons-is it new?(wordpress.com as opposed to .org) I set one up and it was very easy, and lots of templates are available to customize the appearance. I understand the hosted WordPress is supposed to be better for business, and it has all kinds of cool plug-ins, but I've also heard it's challenging to use so haven't gone there yet...Haven't tried blogger. Great lens! Pat
