What are some of the ways I can easily setup my blog?
1. Manual Install: 7 minute solution
This takes a touch longer, but gives me full control of database names, usernames and passwords that I set for my blogs. However,
because I use a dedicated host server, and upload all my Wordpress files and themes in a folder called 'cpanel-skel', it duplicates all the files to any new domain I add to my host account. So this gives me speed and control at the same time ;-)
Action Steps:
(a) Upload Wordpress files to host account
(b) In host control panel, create a new database in MySQL
(c) Edit the wp-config.php file with your database name, username and password.
(d) Execute the install file (domain.com/wp-admin/install.php) and
you're done.
2. cPanel Install: 5 minute solution
This is a super easy way to install your blog, if you use a host company that uses cPanel and Fantastico features.
Action Steps:
(a) Simply click on Fantastico in your host control panel
(b) Select Wordpress blogs
(c) Enter a few fields of data, and away you go.
3. Software/Service Install: A few seconds to 2 minute solution
If you're planning on setting up multiple blogs or creating your own network of blogs, you're better off using a centralized software/service to do the job.
An example of a good software is www.WPManagerSoftware.com. Its a
multi-domain Wordpress blog installer and manager software that resides on your host.
This can help you:
- Install a WordPress blog from anywhere eg. an Internet cafe, at the airport or a hotel, with no need for copies of your WordPress files, plugins, or themes on your laptop.
- Setup multiple blogs on multiple domains or sub-domains,
- Create your sub-domains for you without going into cpanel,
- Install your blogs using multiple themes and plugins,
- Update any other already-installed wordpress blog site,
- Install and/or Update your blogs with the latest version,
- Backup your blogs' databases to your PC,
- Restore any backups if needed in case you lose your data or it gets corrupted

What tools do you recommend to easily publish audio & video?
Cost-Effective Audio/Video Hosting Solutions:
1. OurMedia.org ($0 Cost for a very long time)
OurMedia.org is quoted on their site that they'll "host your media forever - for free".
You can host video, audio, music, photos, text and public domain works there. Eg. videoblogs, photo albums, home movies, podcasting, digital art, documentary journalism, home-brew political ads, music videos, audio interviews, digital storytelling, children's tales, Flash animations, student films, etc.
They get my highest "Cheap & Good" Vote
==> www.OurMedia.org
2. Hipcast.com (Free 7 Day trial; cheap monthly/yearly packages)
Hipcast.com used to be Audioblog.com. They recently changed names as they now host video too. I have a yearly account with them, and
they work well with Wordpress too.
Their email support is strong and prompt - definitely a positive in my books.
However, I'm not a fan of waiting, so I'd much prefer FTP'ing my media to my own host, rather than media uploads via their forms. But that's just me ;-)
Are you "hip"? ==> www.Hipcast.com
3. AudioAcrobat.com (30 Day trial; then $19.95/month)
I found out from the grapevine that Hipcast.com (above) and
AudioAcrobat.com are sister companies. Way to corner the market ;-) When you visit both sites, you'll discover they have strong similarities in features and price plans.
I don't have an account there, but I've tried their 30 day trial, and have spoken with their marketing director, and I'm quite pleased with their customer service and media hosting service.
They do offer a good range of audio and video players and buttons, along with tracking stats.
==> www.AudioAcrobat.com
So with the 3 options above, you'll find at least one that will serve your needs for recording, hosting and publishing your media.
Sidenote: If you are looking for a Wordpress theme that makes it easy to setup your podcasts and videocasts on your blog, then definitely check out www.WordpressProTheme.com. Good support, 76 plugins incl. audio + video plugins, and many other user-friendly features. I highly recommend it.
