This page contains tips for anyone wanting to impress this particular SquidAngel

Hello lens visitor... are you looking for a Squid Angel? I was appointed to be one of over thirty as of April 2009.

Squid Angels review lenses to see what's hot and what's not. When they find a lens that deserves more recognition, they bless it, which gives it a good lensrank boost. Blessings wear off after a few weeks but you can always ask again, or just wait for an Angel to discover you!

Though I'm no longer one of the official-list Squid Angels, I still have Angel wings as I'm the Image and Video Mentor here on Squidoo.

I prefer to bless GREAT lenses, not just good ones. This lens tells you what I consider a bless-worthy lens. I included examples so you'll know what I like.

Lenses I Have Loved

...and other sagas of heavenly bliss.

I love lenses that teach me something in detail.

I love them organized, well-planned, and extensive.

I love original content; nothing copied.

I love accurate, helpful information.

I love friendliness.

I love photographs and artwork.

I love lenses that clearly represent the best in the topic they're in.

I love lenses that are used to tell a personal story that might help others.

I love lenses that focus on the odd and unusual, off-beat, weird, and unique things of life.

Here are a few sample lenses I've blessed because I believe they are GREAT... and in fact, some are PHENOMENAL. I don't expect everyone to have a phenomenal lens, though it is something worth working toward with every lens we own.

Why I want your lens to be GREAT

...I really care.

I care about Squidoo and I care about you. I want your lens to contribute to the Squidoo community in a positive way. I want you to have lenses that are well-developed and excellent so they will fulfill your goals for them.

I'm willing to give you suggestions for lens improvement - just ask.

I particularly want to see Squidoo freed from spam. I like to see lenses that focus on teaching us something, and am disappointed when I find lenses that just want me to click away from Squidoo so I might buy something such as an vastly overpriced e-book.

To be a viable part of a community such as Squidoo, it helps to be willing to give even if it is just information you're giving. If you come here only to take (our time and dollars) we will know it when we look at your lens.

Problematic lenses...

...or maybe they just need more work.

If your lens has fewer than approximately ten modules, it might not impress me enough for blessing purposes.

I check lens articles for duplication on Google and on Copyscape.

If a lens is made for shopping purposes, so be it. But if it purports to give some kind of fantastic information, then doesn't, and is filled with sales pitches and promises that can't be fulfilled unless you buy something, I may take a dim view of it.

I really, really like good spelling and grammar, and if there are typos I notice. If you have spelling/grammar problems, even if you're not a native English speaker, could you ask a friend with a better command of the language to proofread it for you? If you have nobody else to help - ask me.

SquidAngels can ding lenses as easily as they can bless them. I prefer not to do that to any but the spammiest of lenses.

If you receive an email from me about your lens suggesting an improvement, you're welcome to make changes and request another visit.

What NOT To Do!

PLEASE - Let Me Contact You!

,,,this is very important!

If I find a lens with only one thing wrong with it - something that can be easily fixed prior to blessing - I like to be able to send a message your way suggesting some minor item of lens repair. However... if you don't have your 'contact me' link enabled on your profile page, I can't. Please let us contact you... there's few things as valuable as communication!

Categories

There are five categories I focused on when I was an official Squid Angel.

A few notes first...

The Squid Angels program changed in 2009. There are more SquidAngels now and each Angel is assigned categories to monitor. They can bless lenses in any category, but focus mostly on their own.

Also keep in mind that if your lens isn't listed on this page, it doesn't mean I've never blessed it. I can't list all the lenses I've blessed because there's not enough room on this lens!

1. News and Politics

...the way the world works.

This is my favorite category. I like knowing what's happening in the world. Here are some lenses I've blessed in the News and Politics category:

More News and Politics lenses I've blessed...

2. Music

...I could sing about this!

No matter what else is happening in the world, there will be music because it feeds our souls. Here are a few music lenses I've blessed:

3. Work At Home

...where homemakers become business owners!

I've been working at home for about ten years now, and I love it! I take seriously my intention to bless and promote helpful Work at Home lenses. Here are some of the lenses I've blessed in this category:

4. Health and Medicine

...what could be more important than good health?

Without good health, we can't enjoy the rest of life, so Health is one of my favorite topics. Here are a few health lenses I've blessed:

5. SEO and Affiliate Marketing

...how to use the web to generate funds.

I'm a professional blogger and content writer, have worked as a web designer, and have earned money helping other webmasters with SEO projects. Therefore the SEO & Affiliate Marketing topic holds my interest. I'm looking for quality lenses like these:

Inspirational quotes for busy lensmasters

...something to think about.

Here are a few quotations that will hopefully inspire us to achieve more and worry less.

  • "The journey of one thousand miles begins with one step."
    - Lao Tse

  • "How do you best move toward mastery? To put it simply, you practice diligently, but you practice primarily for the sake of the practice itself. Rather than being frustrated on the plateau, you learn to appreciate and enjoy it just as much as you do the upward swings."
    - George Leonard, from his book, Mastery (see the link below)

  • "A job half-done is a job un-done." - Me

  • "Begin at the beginning and go on till you come to the end; then stop." - Lewis Carrol, Alice in Wonderland

  • "The obscure we see eventually. The completely obvious, it seems, takes longer." - Edward R. Murrow

  • "Sometimes it's necessary to go a long distance out of the way in order to come back a short distance correctly." - Edward Albee

  • "When the student is ready the Master appears." - Buddhist Proverb

  • "Before enlightenment - chop wood, carry water. After enlightenment - chop wood, carry water." - Zen Buddhist Proverb

  • "Many men go fishing all of their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after." - Henry David Thoreau

The Five Keys to Mastery

...an inspiring documentary.

This is an absolutely wonderful movie. I rented it from Netflix a while back and was so motivated and impressed by it I had to watch it no less than three times before I sent it back, and now I want my own copy.

The movie features George Leonard, author of Mastery (above) and other masters including Carlos Santana, BB King, and Nobel Prize Laureate Eric Kandel. They explain how to move past mediocrity into mastery.

Practice, and the love of practice, makes perfect. This is so very inspiring! If you truly want to be among the best, this movie explains the five keys to making it happen.

Thank you so much for becoming my fan! I feel a squidoo addiction creeping over me and it's mainly due to the friendly people who spend so much of their time reaching out to us, rank beginners and all. I'm going to look into some of the lenses you've blessed, I'm a little overwhelmed, there is so much here. It just unfolds and unfolds.

Squidoo is a UNIQUE place. I've spent a LOT of time here. I've helped out as Citizen Squid twice, and will probably do that again in the future. I've had LOTD. I've had lenses up for awards.
Squid Angel -- Blessings to YOU
This is the first instance on Squidoo that I've actually written about my Catholic upbringing in Cleveland, Ohio, and what an impact it had on my spiritual being...
Angel? I'm Not An Angel! I'm Your Faerie Squid Mother
It would seem that Squidoo's resident demon lover (me) has become an angel, a Squid Angel that is. As is the tradition of Squid Angels, I decided to create a lens about my time as a Squid Angel (or should I say Squid Demon?). Since there are already quite a few lenses out there telling what a Squid

Squid Angel Blessings from Kiwisoutback
Squidoo Angels have a huge responsibility on their shoulders, and that is to keep Squidoo clean. Not only can Angels bless a lens that's a remarkable piece of work, but they can ding a bad lens that doesn't deserve to be seen.

First off, it is an honor to be one of the first Squid Angels on Squidoo and I take this responsibility very seriously.
Diary of a Squid Angel Alum
In March 2008, Squidoo HQ announced a new group of Squid Angels. I was editing a bunch of lenses, and upon refreshing a page, the lovely yellow Angel badge popped up on my title bar. That's how I learned of my Squid Angel status.

Squidoo Angels
When I first joined Squidoo in July 2008, the Squidoo Angels were a small group of dedicated Lensmasters who volunteered for the post when a message was posted in the SquidU Forum. Things have changed recently and although the Angels is still a group of dedicated volunteers, it is somewhat larger.

No Angel
At least not in the sense I imagine angels to be.I would like to clear up a few points. Firstly, angels are sexless creatures. This just isn't true in my case, I'm definitely a woman.I did once read that angels are composed of ethereal matter, and thus able to take on whichever physical form , , ,
