Word Whomp Gameplay Strategy

The basic object of Word Whomp is to make as many words as you can with the six random letters that have been given to you. The words you are trying to make must have at least 3 letters. They also can not be proper names, abbreviations or contractions. Word Whomp is a fast paced timed game.

To make the words, you simply click on the letters in order. For example, if you are trying to make the word "dog", you would click on the d, then the o and finally the g. When you are done spelling your word, you then press the submit button or press "enter" on your keyboard. If it is an acceptable word, it will appear in one of the empty signs near the bottom of the playing screen.

The more words you can correctly spell will advance the gopher closer to the veggies and token prizes!

Mix Up The Mix up button scrambles the order of the six letters. If you've run out of words you can form, click this button to scramble the letters. There is no token penalty for clicking this button, but one second will be taken off the counter.

Clear Letter This button will allow you to remove the last letter you clicked on.

Enter Click the enter button when you think you have created a word. Remember, words must be at least three letters long.

Clear Word-Keyboard Only This button will remove all of the letters from the word you are trying to create.

New Game This button will end your game and reveal all of the words that you didn't correctly guess. You will keep all of the tokens and bonus spins you earned before clicking this button.

Download It This button will open a new browser window and give you information about the downloadable version of Word Whomp.

Theme (For Club Pogo Members only This button will let you choose from all of your available background themes. You can earn more themes by advancing in rank.

When playing Word Whomp, if you can correctly guess enough words to reach the spin carrot before time runs out, you will earn a jackpot spin. The amount of token you will win when you reach the carrot depends of the skill level you are playing.

If you can correctly guess all of the words, you will get an additional 200 tokens.

While playing Word Whomp, you may notice that one of the words has gold tiles. This is called the Special Word. If you can correctly guess the Special Word, you will get a 20 token or a 15 second bonus.

Changing the skill level of Word Whomp affects three parts or the game, the timer, the distance between the starting point and the spin carrot and the spin carrot bonus amount.

The harder the skill level, the less time you will have to solve the puzzle, but you bonuses will be higher, earning you more tokens.

• All words in the puzzle contain 3 - 6 letters. Proper names and abbreviations don't count.


• Skill Level 1 is easiest, so try this level first. When you've mastered the basics, move on to a higher skill level. At the higher skill levels, your potential token bonus is greater.


• If you're stumped, click the MIX UP button. When your letters switch places, you can often find words that you may have overlooked. You can click the MIX UP button as often as you wish.


• After you reach the "Spin" carrot, longer words will earn you more tokens than shorter words. So always look for 5- and 6-letter words while entering shorter words.


• Words are listed alphabetically within each bracket of 3, 4, 5, and 6 letter words. Use this to your advantage as you try to spell the last few words in the game.


• At the end of each game, look closely at the words you didn't find. These words will probably show up in future puzzles.


• The Word Whomp dictionary does not include every word in the English language - instead, only those words that are in relatively common usage are included.


• If there's a "s" in the puzzle, don't forget to add it to as many words as you can to make plurals!

• The bigger the word, the farther your gopher will dig.
