What are Affiliate Programs?
Affiliate programs are basically sales program, where by your help a company market its product(s) and for each successful transaction, you can a certain % of the retail price as your commission. Most people online work at home doing this.

How does it work?
For example, let assume that you sell a product that you saw from ClickBank, which is a FREE to join affiliate network (i.e. a collection of affiliate products) CLICK HERE Each time you sell a product,

What is the GOOD?

What is the BAD & ugly?
Often when you see self proclaim successful guru in affiliate marketing, they will often tell you they earn thousand in a day without telling you how much they have been spending on marketing. Nonetheless, I know of creative marketers who through a combination of free marketing like ezines, forums and public releases still make a significant sum each month. You should also be wary of some affiliate programs out there which could be illegal offering free download of commercial products.

Conclusion
Yes affiliate marketing is a legit and good way to earn money working from home online. However it is not as easy as it seems either. The fundamental with any sales jobs is that you need sales.

P.S: I personally bought it before and thought it was very useful especially for people who just started out and eager to work at home with it. However I know of people who regretted making the purchase as well. It is essentially a turnkey affiliate program and you must still do the MARKETING! No MARKETING = No TRAFFIC = No Sales = No Money. In Short, I would just say BUY IT IF YOU WANT A SHORT CUT TO BE AN AFFILIATE BUT DON'T IF YOU ARE JUST THINKING OF GETTING RICH OVERNIGHT.

1. Auction Fraud

The setup: There are many types of eBay chicanery, but the most common one is where you send in your money and get nothing but grief in return.

What actually happens: You never get the product promised, or the promises don't match the product. The descriptions may be vague, incomplete, or completely fake.

2. Phishing Scams

The setup: You receive an e-mail warning you about identity theft and asking that you log in and verify your bank account information. The message says that if you don't take action immediately, your account will be terminated.

What actually happens: Even though the e-mail looks like the real deal, it's a clever fake. Really smart phishers direct you to the genuine Web site, then pop up a window over the site that captures your personal info and sells it to criminals.

3. Nigerian 419 Letter

The setup: You receive an e-mail

"I REPRESENT THE RECENTLY DEPOSED MINISTER OF AGRICULTURE FOR NODAMBIZIA, WHO HAS EMBEZZLED 30 MILLION DOLLARS..."

The scammer usually say they seek an accomplice who will transfer the funds into their account for a cut of the total--usually around 30%.

What actually happens: There's no minister and no money--except for the money you put up in advance. Victims of Nigerian letter fraud lose $3000 on average.There are other free work at home jobs variations.

4. Postal Forwarding/Reshipping Scam

The setup: You answer an online ad looking for a "correspondence manager." An offshore corporation that lacks a U.S. address or bank account and need someone to reship goods or wire transfer some money and offers to pay you.

What actually happens: Products are purchased online using stolen credit cards shipped to your address. Or you're transferring stolen funds from one account. After a few months when the feds come looking, you're the one they're going to nail.

5. "Congratulations, You've Won an Xbox etc.."

The setup: You get an e-mail telling you that you've won something cool. All you need to do is visit a Web site and provide your debit card number and PIN to cover "shipping and handling" costs.

What actually happens: The item never arrives. A few months later, mystery charges start showing up on your bank account. The only thing that gets shipped and handled is your identity. (A more benign variation is to use your identify to receive spam from advertisers)

Avenir Technologies

What actually happens: Very disappointed with Avenir Technologies and Raja Imran Mazhar. Tired my best to support them, continously made payment promptly and even offered them a bonus (for redesigning my index page) despite receiving nothing from them and lost them in Pakistan.

Project was assigned to them through odesk after finding them through getafreelancer.com in December 2007. After reviewing their feedback and portfolio we have decided to work with them.

In a nutshell, it is currently already in October 2008. Project was supposed to be delivered by March 2008. Over $2.25k was paid upfront, timeline exceeded 300% and NOTHING was received. Received alot of 'force majeure' reasons from politics to terrorist acts. Everyone from investors to stakeholders are thoroughly disappointed as so much resources wasted.
