Is that Online Business a Scam?
By: Randi Gerber & Heidi Whitaker
Lie #1: An online business is so easy that anyone can do it.
I was recently reading a sales copy for a home based business online opportunity that claimed your 82 year old disabled grandma who can't even use email can do it. I do believe that most people are capable of learning how to run a home based business online, however, if emailing is difficult for you, then look in a different direction besides marketing online.
The problem is that few are committed enough and you do need to know how to operate your computer. Many opportunities may be very lucrative, but plan on working hard and educating and devoting yourself to reach this point.
You may feel like you are pushing a boulder up hill for a year or so. You must maintain the mental drive and physical stamina to make your business take off and your dream materialize.
Lie #2: You will have so much more time to spend with your family.
While this may eventually be true, don't expect it in less than 6 months to a year, and more than likely a little longer.
Lie #3: You can start a business with only $20 in your pocket.
Well this may not be a total lie because a few people have truly done this, but this is very much the exception and not the rule. These people also spent years leaning by trial and error, and went well into the negatives before they ever saw real returns.
Much of the start up cost will be determined by your skill set and previous experience.
Lie # 4: If you build it they will come.
If you think that you can just build a web-site or buy a replicated site, and you will suddenly have sales, think again. Realize building a website is not like building a field of dreams. You can build it, and no one will magically come without any advertising or promotion.
Lie #5: If you just sign up for "this program" you will have everything you need for your home based business.
Online opportunities may can be very misleading. They persuade you to sign up for our program, and sell all of these e-books or join all of these affiliate programs and you can sell everything online and make great money with no hassle. This sounds great in theory, but is a nothing but a lie.
Lie #6: You just build it and forget about it.
If you have put the time into getting your online business up and running and successful you are ahead of 99.9% of everyone else. Do not think, however, that you can just quit now and your job is done.
Lie #7: You can learn everything you need to know in a few short days.
You can learn enough to get started and have a web-site up and running in a few days, but you cannot learn everything that you need to know. There are many secrets to successful online marketing, and those who are truly successful never stop learning and or discovering them.
Again, educate yourself. The best online business builders still spend a lot of time learning from others. Plan on educating yourself like you would for any business.
Lie #8: Traffic = Sales
Lie # 9: There are so many buyers on-line you can sell anything at any price to the right niche market and make great money.
Realize the internet is one of the most competitive markets in the world. People who shop on-line are looking for great deals and are savvy shoppers. In a brick and mortar store you may not need the best prices to make a sell because people have to inconveniently drive down the street and go into another store in order to compare prices. Online they can Google what they are looking for and have 50 competitors prices right at their finger tips. If you are interested in selling online, you must sell unique items or have the lowest prices on common items to have real success.
Lie # 10: It cost thousands of dollars to really learn how to market online correctly.
This lie is all too common and has caused many to fail before they even start. You do not need to spend thousands of dollars in initial investments to have online success. There are programs for under $500 initially that will help you start your business and teach you what you need to know to market a very successful business online. Some overly expensive programs are only looking for a quick buck from suckers. Don't be fooled by these scams. Learn what it really takes to build an online business.

Are you Being Scammed or Do You Really Have What it Takes to Build a Successful Online Business?
Get the Naked Truth.
Those ads for online business opportunities and programs that promise "anyone can do it" are lying to make a quick buck from you!
Not long ago, I sat across from a successful online entrepreneur who admitted to me that he didn't care about the success of the people to whom he was selling a business opportunity. He just wanted to make a quick buck from them. The sad thing is that some of the many programs he stuck people with were over $5,000.
Are there strong indicators that an online home business is NOT for you? Absolutely, but no one wants you to know about them because they are all trying to sell you something!
* The fact is that more than 90% of all Internet business start-ups end in failure within the first 120 days. Yes, you read that right. NINETY PERCENT!
This failure rate should be a warning to those who are considering trying their hand at making a go of working on the Internet rather than at a job in the brick and mortar world.
Don't waste your time and money on online programs, software, or opportunites that will only end in financial disaster. Find out now if you have what it takes to make it online.
