Whether the reason is because you are someone who got laid off or downsized, someone needing an extra income to make ends meet or one who is planning for retirement I will tell you there are so many different work at home employment opportunities available for moms and dads who are home raising their family. I want to point out things you will want to consider when researching the various work at home employment opportunities. Now you need to understand that there are many income opportunities you can do from home. It is just a matter of finding the one that interests you and mets your needs. Searching the internet is a great place to start. You can also talk to others who are currently working at home. The internet having such a vast amount of information is a time savings. Keep in mind this search many be weeks, months or even years, but once you find the one of interest then you need to understand how the income is generated. Is it something you are comfortable doing. meaning do you want selling? Or is it a Party Plan you are looking for? Maybe it is neither.
There are so many different companies available so start your search now. Make a list of things you do not want to consider and then list things you would be interested in. Is it a service or a particular product area that interests you? The working from home company you choose is something to last a lifetime, whether you have a full or part time job or not! Many work at home employment opportunities allow you to supplement your income as you generate "residual" income. As your income grows and replaces the full time income of a JOB then you are free to make the decision to work solely from home, controlling your work at home income.

Now you may be asking yourself.

How do I choose the right one?
Where do I begin?

Let me share with you some food for thought as you go through your search.

Begin Your Work at Home Search.

The Work at Home Opportunity for YOU

So you've been laid off and job openings are far and few between. It is up to you to be creative and find a source of income. Search the internet to see what others are doing. What types of opportunities are out there? Do you want to work for someone else again and have them be in charge of your future income path? Or do you want to take charge and be in charge of your future income? Working from home opportunities are vast on the internet. Do your research and find one that interests you. Now once you find ones that interest you then do your homework. I strongly suggest looking seriously at the company itself, their product line and longevity. Is the company a BBB Accredited Business

Does the company have a strong financial picture, meaning what's their credit rating, are they debt free. Are they privately held? What has their sales chart looked like over the years? Do they have little to no gains or even flat spots? Is their product line one you believe in? Is the product line made up of needed consumables, so they will need to be repurchased month after month or are they considered to be a "fringe" item? remember "fringe" ietms are the first to be cut out when money is tight! What's upper management like? What are the income statistics for the previous year?
You want to ask yourself the same types of questions you would ask when preparing yourself for a job interview.

What Work at Home Business Is For You?

Once you have collected your data you will know if you have found the company for you. Now is the time to find out what is expected of you. What will you be doing? Will you "sell" products? Will you collect money, take orders, ship and deliver orders?
Know what you are willing to do and not to do so you can narrow down your search.
Does the Wellness industry interest you or is it a service you would like to provide. Just make sure the product/service is one you believe in. Meaning if you are not sold on what the company provides then the business opportunity will not work for you. Many times people will jump into a business because the money sounds great, but when you really look at what is to drive the business, say the product or service it is too expensive, too far fetched or just too limiting. meaning it will only attract a small number, a limited target market.
Look for opportunities that have a large target market. You want it to appeal to as many as you can. Think about it do you want to appeal to those wanting to just lose weight or you rather focus on a larger market such as overall health. This could include dieters but also others. Do you want to target women who wear makeup or women who care about their total look and health. Do you want to target people looking for insurance, when many employers offer free or discounted insurance? Choose your work at home venture with a large target market in mind. You want your business to survive tough economic times and not fail due to the economy. Therefore make sure the products/service is competitively priced and needed by all.

Are You Now a Stay at Home Mom Needing an At Home Income?

Are you a stay home mom or dad that needs to add to the household income? Many families these days know that a 2nd and even a 3rd income is needed. However leaving the home when there are young ones is not a possibility for many. The costs of day care is many times more than the extra income a part time job brings in. Today's job market does not leave many opportunities with companies closing and cutting back. For these reasons more and more are looking for
ventures that allow a stay home mom or dad to work from home, setting their own hours around the parenting responsibilities. The internet offers many resources for moms and dads to increase their family income while tending to family needs. There is something out there for everyone. You must realize that working from home requires self discipline, motivation, hard work and focus. You must set the time aside to build YOUR business. Sacrifices may need to be made in the short term but the outcome will be worth it. Remember it is up to YOU to go after your dreams and reach your goals.

So How Will You Make Money at Home?

Understand their compensation plan

With many work at home opportunities available you must make sure you understand the way you will be generating your income. Know what the total cost is up front. You don't want to find out later there are "hidden" fees and nothing is refundable. Make sure it is totally "risk free" and that that is stated.
Is there a cap on your earning? Do they have "break aways"? Ask to see checks to prove their reported income. A person earning an income should be willing to show you their check copies!
Ask questions on how the money is made, if they are unable to answer the questions then you may want to reconsider joining that company. If they are unable, then perhaps they are new and just need some assistance is explaining the compensation plan.
Just make sure your questions get answered!

Who Will Train and Mentor You, Anyone ?

Be coachable!

Okay, so you selected the company for you, now who will be training you? Do you have to attend weekly meetings to get your training? Do you have to pay for those meetings? Are they mandatory? Is there a required book or cd/tape that you must purchase? These are all important questions that add to cost of investment. I suggest making sure company you select provides you with a mentor. One who will be there for you. Now of course you need to do your part and be willing learn and not reinvent the wheel sorta speak!
If the company wants to make money off of teaching you then you may want to reconsider if that is the company for you.

I would love to be your mentor!
