Work From Home Moms - The Secrets to Building a Profitable Home Based Business

How Work From Home Moms Can Build Their Businesses On-Line By Utilizing Monetization

Times are scary. Everywhere you look the news is bad. Mortgage crisis, financial crisis, foreclosures, bailouts. Stocks are plummeting, prices are rising and retirement funds are quickly disappearing.

So is this really a good time to be a work from home mom? Well, actually the timing has never been better. Today, with the advent of the internet, working from home has never been easier or more profitable. But there is a secret.

What is the secret?

Creating Multiple Streams of Income

Sounds interesting, but exactly how do you do this?

Well, one of the most popular and profitable methods of creating these streams is known as monetization.

Monetization, according to Wikipedia is "adapting non-revenue-generating assets into those that generate revenue." More simply put; making money while you are building a business by monetizing your content. This is really known as residual income because once you have done the leg work to create this type of income model, income streams into your business whether you are sleeping or working.

If you are already a work from home mom or you are just thinking of starting your own business, one of the most popular and perhaps least inexpensive methods of "getting the word out" about your business is a blog. Almost everyone on the internet today has one or has read one.

You can build a blog easily for free or for a small fee. The ones with the small fee offer more services and typically are easier to get setup if you are new to this form of marketing. Squarespace is an excellent site for building a blog from scratch and it is very inexpensive. They even give you a 2 week free trial period to see if this is something you would be interested in starting.

Once you have created a blog, you can start advertising affiliate links within your content or directly on your blog site. You can create a resources section within your blog (or website if you already have one) promoting these products or even promote them through a newsletter. Every time someone clicks on one of these links and purchases the products, you get a commission. This is known as affiliate marketing and it is just one way of monetizing. It's also rather easy and inexpensive to get the word out about your blog with the internet. Use some of the many on-line social networking sites to spread the word. They are free and provide the opportunity to reach thousands of people with the touch of a button.

Another way to monetize utilizing passive income is to create an e-book or or niche-focused audio that is geared towards your target market. You can also advertise this on your blog (again or website) by writing an article pertaining to your e-book or audio, lead them to a sales page where you can capture their information or they purchase the product directly.

Affiliate marketing and e-book sales create both residual and passive income with a distinct difference. There are affiliate marketing sites which offer "intangible" products, such as memberships which require a monthly membership. This would be classified as residual as it will continue to create streams of income monthly without your intervention.

Passive income would be referred to more as income you receive once - a one-time affiliate commission or sale of an information product.

Regardless of what type of monetization strategy you utilize, the rewards will be well worth the effort.

The up-front time of setting up this type of system is time consuming. Although it is not that difficult to grasp, there is testing that is required, education and revamping until you have created a model that works for your business. There are great resources that teach you about social media marketing.

Renegade Unversity is an actual on-line University that offers step by step tutorials on how to set up your own content on the web to attract prospects to you and your business. Much more than a simple e-book or paperback, Renegade University gives you actual hands-on training whether you are brand new to this type of marketing or a seasoned pro. To take a free tour of the University visit Renegade University to get started right away.

Remember, building anything worth having takes time; but once you have your content set up, along with your monetization strategy, the money flows into your business 24 hours/day. This leaves you more time to spend with your family and less time pounding the pavement trying to get your business off of the ground.

The amount of time you spend is directly related to the success you will have with this model.

In these days of uncertainty, creating multiple streams of income is almost a necessity and utilizing monetization strategies for your work from home business is just one of many ways to build a profitable business on-line while staying diversified and not relying too heavily on one sector for your success.

Putting all of your eggs in one basket is never a good idea as the mortage crisis has proven for many.

Diversify, monetize, build multiple streams of income and secure your future for yourself and your family.

What a great lens Anita. It seems that many home businesses don't encourage (or actually discourage) multiple streams of income because they are afraid it will dillute people's efforts. In reality, by creating additional income people are not only encouraged, they have the money they need to invest in their business and marketing. Thanks!
