What does he think about his mom working at home?

Have you ever tried to be a work at home mom or dad? Its pretty hard! Being interrupted over and over again, not able to finish a paragraph in one sitting....as I type this my 3 yr. is asking me questions about the long rumble of thunder we just heard. Now he asked about a missing piece on his fire truck. I find myself in a near state of coma, paralyzed my mind trys to compute for an answer to his topic while I'm typing out this paragraph. So, check back now and then and see what this hard working mom at home with young boys is trying to accomplish because right now....I have to make blue pancakes.

FREE TIPS & MONEY-SAVING IDEAS!

Updated July 21-2008

We all want to save money and get more for the little bit we actually do have! Right? I'm going to throw a few ideas below, but first don't miss out on the new link I added for Living on a Dime! A mother/daughter team with resources and inspirational stories and advice on how to stretch a buck. Be sure to check them out...see how one of their families paid off thousands of dollars of debt in just a few years.

DID YA KNOW?
Save those Bed,Bath, & Beyond coupons you get in the mail- well, sign up on their mailing list if you haven't! At least here in Canton, OH our BB&B ignores the expiration date and the restrictions and lets you use up to 5 coupons on 5 items in one shopping trip! I recently bought a wedding gift and some other misc items with 5 of their coupons PLUS one $2 off coupon for a savings of $10.32!

TIPS:
If you are a scrapbooker...try using the coupons from Joann Fabrics..you can save 40% of one item (buy something big or small). ALSO- save your scraps!...they can hold unlocked potential for accenting your scrapbook pages. Be creative, think outside the box! I have to scrapbook cheap- you don't have to spend a lot to make nice pages.

Save money by buying restaurant gift certificates at Restaurant.com. We've bought $10 gift cert. for $3 through them. Also check out coupons online for added savings at the grocery store.

REBATE! I love it! In 2007 I think I got about $200 or more in almost totally FREE products (you still have to pay the sales tax). I rebate at Walgreens and Rite Aid...don't overlook any rebates that come your way via electronics and appliance purchases too.

OKAY- Here are some more ideas that have helped us!

About 2 yrs ago we realized we'd save money by switching insurance companies. Do some checking around with different ones. We were with State Farm at the time and switched to Allstate...can't remember that amount we saved by switching home owners & car ins. but I think it may have been around a couple hundred or more.

We also canceled one of our whole life policies and got a huge refund- around $900 back and instead bought a term-life insurance policy worth (in the event of death) a whole lot more money than the whole life policy and dropped our payments for it to about $14/month.

These all add up! Keep looking for ways to save money!

Making consignment store shopping work for you!

If you are the frugal shopper & like name-brand fashion...READ!

Here's a quick tip (because my youngest is now awake and crying from his crib-my time is short here). Here is what I do..not every consignment shop may do this, but look for one that does. I take my unwanted clothing (mens, womens, kids and household items too) to resell at my chosen consignment shop. Then as items sell (and I'm only making about 50% of the final price) I save that money on my account and when Rose (the store owner) has a bag sale...like $3 or $1 a bag...I shop big! She has these kinds of sales maybe 2 times or more a year and my bottom line cost is about 10 cents an item! My biggest shopping day there was 10 bags of clothes...I may have had over 200 items...and it gets deducted off my account, I just pay the difference if there is any! Now, I buy like this because I resell clothing also at a local children's sale in my area and on ebay plus I have neices and someone can always use some clothes I suppose...I have found some nice surprises for myself during these shopping extravaganzas too! Those 10 bags costs me about $1 each...I may have only paid $1.90 out of pocket (after my account money was used) and if memory serves correctly, I sold one of those shirts for $1.90 to another teen resale shop, thus making my money back! And I'm talking name brands like Wet Seal, Abercrombie & Fitch, Old Navy and more!
So don't overlook the world of possibilities from your local consignment shops!

Are you a work at home mom? Can you relate ...

Pink crayon on the wall and hot dogs for breakfast!

They (whoever "they" are plus Oprah) say being a mom or perhaps its a stay-at-home mom is the hardest of all jobs...I'm one of those (so I won't disagree), plus I try to ambitiously improve my ebay store business at the same time...very hard. (Is there casualty insurance for this occupation?) The role of mom, I waited for years for it as well as the role of wife. I've been both now for between 3 1/2-6 yrs total. As rough as it is, I'd rather be here then out in the working world away from my kids. Who else gets to go to work and hear the pink crayon being applied to their living room wall or hear, "I want hot dogs" for breakfast? I do. Stay tuned for more mommy's life and hear more about what I sell on ebay! Or better yet, go see it for yourself at www.tzdelar.com! AND WATCH FOR TIPS THROUGHOUT MY LENS!

Have you tried...

Quick cleaning tips for busy moms & dads!

I love wipes such as Lysol's disinfecting and Scrubbing Bubbles for the bathroom. Its a lifesaver of sorts! After I had my second child (with my oldest being almost 2)...do you think taking the bathroom apart to clean was priority? I love the convenience of pulling out a wipe and wiping off the sinks, toilet, etc...quick! Now I'm cost conscious too so I look for coupons and sales when buying these items. Its great if you can find these on sale WITH a REBATE and actually get your money back for buying it!

Another tip I've learned from experience is that BAKING SODA is good for removing crayon off your walls! But beware of what type of surface you are using it on first. I have painted plaster type walls and it worked fine for me...I don't know what your wall is made of. It is also useful for removing stains on your cupboard...such as berry, maybe coffee...try it! Be sure to give the surface a good rinsing afterward to remove the soda residue.
