Needless to say - but where there's a big hungry crowd of people willing to spend money - there's going to be plenty of people offering dubious products. It's no different in the work part time online niche!

The amounts of people wanting you to part with your money is simply astonishing, and it's rather important that you do your research before buying into anything. As the saying goes: "Before you invest - Investigate!". If something doesn't stand the test of due diligence - keep your credit card in your wallet.

Now, clearly, spotting a scam isn't always easy. In fact it can be hard, because when there's a potential to earn a lot of money, some people will stop at nothing to dress things up.

To keep it short and sweet - here's the top three money traps - that will bleed you dry and fail to deliver:

Internet Marketing Gurus.
Make sure you don't fall into the guru trap. Before you know it, you can spend $1,000's, and have very little to show for it! How? By buying into their promises, and spending your hard earned money on their "info-products", even if they give them away for free!

Nothing they do is "for free" - capturing your email address in exchange for a free guide can be worth $100's to them - because of the upsell they can do afterwards. I'm not telling you they're all bad apples, but you need to know exactly what your goals are, and stay focused so you don't spend your money on information you really don't need.

Paid Online Surveys.
An awful lot of people fall into this trap. Imagine getting paid $10 for filling in a short questionaire in 5 minutes? Sounds good - doesn't it? Trouble is that only very few people ever get any payouts from these sites - mostly because they disappear overnight - and then pop up again under a new name the next day.

So, how do they do it? Simple! They get you to sign up for a website that "wants their customer experience testing". This website (usually free offers and quotes from loan sharks etc.) will pay them $1-$50 for getting you to pass your details on. Your reward? A 50% share if you're lucky!

The thing is, you need to make $100 to get a payout from the survey site, so while they get paid by the site surveyed, you need to wait for your money to be released. As I said before, either the site will "magically" disappear, or the surveys will "dry out" when your earnings are close to the threshold. Make no mistake - the survey sites are making all the money!

Data Input Websites
This is another very common trap for people looking to work part time online. Data entry is something most people can do - but very few of these work online opportunities are genuine.

Many of them are all about getting you to "data input" ads into Google AdWords, which is certainly something that can make you a lot of money if you know what you're doing, but these "data input scams" doesn't give you the required education, and you have to pay both to join their programs and to advertise on Google.

Purleeease! Since when did it become common sense to pay for getting a job, and pay towards your employers advertising costs? I don't think so!

As I've stated above - working part time online is good for making a bit of extra money to improve your lifestyle - but thinking of your part time online job as a business can seriously affect your wealth!

So, what do I mean when I say you need to think of your work as a business? Well - most people are looking to benefit from their work as soon as it's done - some sort of an instant gratification attitude. We're trained to think like employees, and fail to think for the long term.

Building a business online means that you're willing to put in a lot of work at first, without seing an instant paycheck. In fact - you might have to spend a bit of money getting things up and running - or build your online presence slowly from your proceeds.

But, building small website using online website builders, or blogs and social network websites (like this squidoo lens) is like sowing seeds, nurture the plant, and finally reap the reward some time in the future. I have personally built small minisites like this one two-three years ago, which makes me money to this day! they may only make you $1-$10 a month, but if you build 100+ of them, you're making a residual income for some time to come.

There's more opportunities out there than what meets the eye - and some of them can be very, very lucrative indeed - if you know what you're doing.

So, working part time online can be very rewarding if you mind your own business!
