It doesn't matter if you plan to be the best World of Warcraft Priest or World of Warcraft Paladin, or maybe you are happy playing a twink, you are going to need gold at some point.

Want an epic mount? Want to be able to buy Merciless Gladiator's Vestments? Maybe you want your World of Warcraft Priest to have Holy Nova? How are you going to be able to keep up with the mana requirements?

Would you like to be able to be able to enchant a weapon with Major Healing? Do you realize that you need 8 Large Prismatic Shards? The lowest you can purchase a Prismatic Shard is 7 gold but more like 23 when it's all said and done. Each. Derek wanted gold, warcraft riches, and it forced him to something about it. He spent plenty of time researching, and following players, asking them questions, questioning them on what exactly they were doing to make gold.

There was a guild on his server known as "BlackCat" the guild was full of Chinese gold farmers. The guild had a bad reputation on the server and they were known for being scammers, Ninja Looters and Chinese gold farmers. So after begging and begging to get into the guild, and fighting through broken English they finally invited him into their guild.

This is where everything clicked. He followed them around, questioned his new guild, did 5 man runs with them in Zul'Farrak, went to Uldaman, Scarlet Monestary, and just followed them around to unique farming zones all over the game. Some of them you might even know about, but some of them would just blow you away if you download warcraft riches and find out about them.

During this process of learning he also found a forum that is still around today. It is a forum that players frequent to trade, buy and sell gold, items, accounts mainly for World of Warcraft.

So after deciding to experiment a little bit and he sold some gold. When he got the money into his PayPal account, he kept thinking of ways to make gold, and make actual money from that gold. Derek kept expanding and expanding until he began moving into selling actual characters to other players. This made him even more money.

His success continued when he made five level 1 characters and ran them directly to the auction house. Once they were all in place, Derek went back and scanned the auction house with a new add-on, at the time, that he found, Auctioneer, an add-on that is heavily discussed in my guide. If you don't know what it is, it's a program that stores, tracks and analyzes data from the auction house so you can make profits.

While they were scanning he would be farming on each of those new servers, just leveling up a rogue to make some quick gold. He would usually farm until he got about 2 gold on each server. He used this 2 gold and marched it all the way into making hundreds of gold on each of these servers. This gold wasn't used for anything but making more money. He took the gold and sent it over to gold farming companies, who would buy it from Derek at a decent price and then sell it to the population for a killing.

Each day Derek would play on each of his 7 servers, probably around 20-30 minutes a day each. That is anywhere between 2.25 hours to 3.5 hours a day. The rest of the time was spent on his characters having fun, massing gold on his main character, or leveling up another character to sell on the Traders forum.

After building up around 90,000g (added up on all the characters) he decided to start selling the gold to other players. He continued to sell gold for a very long time until Blizzard started banning World of Warcraft players for breaking the economy.

It took Derek Beachler two years to learn all the auction house methods that he includes in Warcraft Riches. Right now is the easiest time to make money from the auction house since the increase in gold. Burning crusade flooded many accounts with gold, and this gives you the opportunity to make money from players that never used to have the amount of gold we were targeting.

In a market where 10g-20g was a decent size purchase for most players, it's now increased to where 20-25g is a common price for a stack of materials.

Your epic flying mount is now 5,000g away from you, instead of it being 1,000g as it was before. So this means you have to know ever more about gold to get your prized possession.

I wanted to take a little bit of time to talk to you about my success and give you the ability to duplicate it and start destroying WoW yourself.

I'm just another World of Warcraft player that has hit success. I'm the author of "Derek's Gold Mastery Guide". I am just another common player who looked at World of Warcraft as a competition, not a game. When I played during Beta I thought it was a very fun game, I sat back and relaxed while enjoying the game.

Something changed when the game released. I watched other players SPEED through levels, and get tons of gold to buy all the cool items, walking around in their expensive items only made me jealous.

This is my story in a nutshell. I wanted to share some of my secrets with you, and to share some of my stories with you that I have experienced over the time of my career in WoW. So I hope you read through this so you don't make the same mistakes that I did and hopefully this will make you become like me quicker.

When I started
When I started playing WoW I was very confused, lost, and to be dead honest with you I nearly gave up on my character about 15-20 times on the way to level 60. I had a bit of an excuse back then, but it was mainly because Warlocks were horrible, and VERY VERY hard to play back then. This was the most unplayed class for a long time because they were nerfed so hard at the release of the game. (Funny now, that they are one of the most dominant classes).

It actually took me around (Queue laughter) 28 days played to make it to level 60 my first time through. It's embarrassing I know! I probably shouldn't go around telling people this.

Since that horrible trip to level 60, I started learning quicker ways to level. My brother and I would have competition leveling through certain points to see who could get it quicker. We measured it in days played, until it came to a point where we had a formula down where we could level to 60 in 5-6 days.

I was miserable when it came to gold. When epic mounts came out, I never thought I would get one. It was nearly impossible to farm that much gold (at that time).

I took a business course in High School and just like most addicted players, WoW was constantly on my mind. I thought of different ways I could make money from WoW and it was right in front of me all that time. We constantly talked about the stock market, and discussed how people make money from it daily.

I thought about how it applied to WoW and it hit me like a ton of bricks "The Auction house!". So I had about 80 gold. I fooled around in the auction house trying to find out what I could buy and resell on the auction house for a quick profit. You know.. Just like all those smart people do daily at the Stock Market.

So there I was.. Staring at the auction house wondering what Items would sell for more. Boy did I choose wrong. I lost 60 of that gold within two days. I had a little bit of success, if not I would have lost all of that gold.

I decided I would do some simple research to try and find which items sold very quickly, and which items would have to sit on the auction house for a little bit to sell. Those are the ones that I did not want.

I then got the idea to farm up enough gold to buy out EVERY auction of one type. To be honest with you I started with Heavy Leather. So I went out to grind 45g. This was fairly simple to do, small amounts of gold are very easy to farm.

When I finally got that gold, I headed straight to the auction house. My plan was simple, buy out all the Heavy Leather, and re-list it to get a profit, and then if anyone else listed it for lower, I would just continue to buy it out and sell it for higher.

It took about 30 minutes until I realized I just hit gold. (Literally) I had 85g sitting in my mailbox before an hour even went by. I took that gold and I immediately tried to target something else. I duplicated for about 3 hours which was about 2am that morning. Within that three hours I had 260g sitting in my bags.

The success just rolled in!
It was very easy after this initial boost. The gold continued to steadily run in. I taught myself new strategies, like linking items FROM the auction house into the trade channel. This would get buyers interested and I would give them a markup price from the auction house. This was an immediate profit machine.

There was one day when I made 2,000g in one day. This was my biggest day in my life. It was also the day where I learned my biggest lesson from the Auction House. The same night I got that 2,000g I ended up losing 400g of it later that night by making mistakes on the auction house (at that time I felt like they were smart moves). I realized I invested into items of no value, and inside my head I was feeling a little shaky on if I was making the right choices or not. With-in 3 days I lost that 2,000g and I continued to lose more. It was on a steady increase downwards.

I stopped buying on the auction house for about 2 weeks. I decided just to level characters up to 60 and sell the accounts off for a while. I thought I lost my touch.

I came to realize now that you have to be comfortable in the Auction House to play it correctly. You have to be willing to lose money to make it. You have to be willing to make bad choices to learn the right ones. Most importantly, you have to be willing to trust in your decisions that you will pick the right choices.
All you are really doing is playing the odds. "This item sells for 2g, if I buy it now I can make 1g, assuming a flood of farmers don't come and undercut me." This is a very low end example but it's a constant ringing in most players head.

To be successful on the Auction House you have to trust in your decisions. There is a reason we do anything, and when you do something on the auction house, you have to be thinking to yourself, "I just made the right decision, given my current circumstances."

I personally learned this from playing Poker - you can make ALL the right moves and still lose. Go

Today I wanted to talk about my favorite style of Gold Farming.

I spend a lot of time sitting at the auction house collecting Gold. This is one of the easiest ways to get gold once you know how.

It used to be very hard to learn how to play the Auction house but it's been made increasingly easy.

The first reason it's been made easy is due to the creation of "Auctioneer". This is a powerful add-on that was released. It stores, tracks, and analyzes data that you can use to make a profit from other players.

The best people that use this strategy can pull in thousands of gold a day. Most don't because they are sitting on enough gold that is efficient for them.

Now lets start with the basics. You are going to want to make an AH mule. This is simply a character to leave at the auction house to buy and sell. This can quite easily be a level 1 character that you run to the main city from any of the starting zones.

What you generally do is buy for low and sell for high. There are so many tips in the auction house that I wont be able to cover them here. In fact, some of them I don't even want to cover because they were created by Derek and he put them in his guide.. I don't want to make him mad so I wont be placing any of those in here.

But here's an exclusive tip. What you want to do is start scanning the AH. This will build you a database of items, and their price of what they usually list for on your server.

Then you can use "Bottom Scanner" that comes with Auctioneer. It scans the AH for items that are listed at a very low price that you can resell at a higher price for a profit.

Now it's very important to know when you buy and when to sell so you can maximize profits. These are listed and explained by Derek in his guide:

One thing you will want to keep in mind is that you don't want to keep listing items. You wan them to sell on the first time you list the auction.

When you start out you will want to stick to items that have no listing fee's or cheap listing fee's. This mainly falls under the category of "Enchanting materials".

Enchanting supplies give you no overhead or generally a "fee" for listing. So as long as you are picking up deals it's relatively risk free.

Derek actually used the AH to bring in over 100,000g that he used to sell to gold selling companies. He did this over time on up to 8 different servers.

We already discussed the AH but I wanted to talk about professions. Most of you may already be headed for the exit button - but DON'T! This is GREAT news!

Since the Burning Crusade, professions have skyrocketed in price. One of the hottest professions right now is Mining.

The reason for this is because mining funds 3 professions now. One of these professions is the hottest on the market right now.

Since Mining is in such a high demand - and most people are too lazy to farm ore, this puts ore in HIGH demand for every level of ore.

Now this isn't the only profession that is prospering from TBC. For some reason, every profession that gathers (Mining, Skinning, Herbalism) sells for double to triple of the original amount.

Not only that but crafters can make huge burst amounts of gold. By crafting the needed recipes you can make a buttload of gold!

For you alchemists out there, here's a good way to pull in money at 70. You can make a deal with one of the raiding groups, or guilds. You can make a lot of potions that you normally couldn't sell, and sell hem directly to that group. You will act almost as if you were their personal vendor or contractor.

So there is just one more tip.

As we know - Jewel crafting is a HOT HOT HOT profession. Well Jewel Crafters also need gems that they get from prospecting ore. Most players who aren't JC's will buy these gems direct to get the gems cut.

Buy loads of ore and either prospect it, or find a JC to prospect it for you. This is an awesome way to make automated Gold!

Don't tell anyone, because I actually took a few of these tips from Derek's Guide here. He writes a whole section out about Professions, and how to use them to make thousands of gold just like he does. If I were you I would stop over there right now and take a look at his guide. But don't tell him I gave out any of his secrets!

Grinding for gold is the most basic and most common form of gold farming. Since this is the most basic form of gold farming it does get a lot of attention from all sorts of players. However most players never end of grinding out the amount of gold they should. It's very easy to farm up to 250g/hour now with the Burning Crusade. The mobs drop a lot more coin, the items that drop vendor for a higher price.

On top of this you will be getting greens, blues and epics that will be selling for an even larger price then before. You can sell your items for a lot more gold because the average drop rates coin itself has been increased. This means there are a lot more players out there with money to throw around.

Knowing the correct places to farm and know how to farm are key assets when it comes to playing World of Warcraft effectively. Many players make minor mistakes when it comes to farming that it puts them far behind the rest of the competition.

Downtime is one of the most major mistakes players make when grinding gold. Downtime is the amount of time during grinding that you spend NOT killing other mobs. This includes running to the next mob, sitting for a drink, chatting to your friends, not chain-casting your next spell (casting the spell as soon as it's available) all of these things will drop your gold per hour rate. The most common downtime is sitting down to eat or drink. Every glass has a favorable "Grinding spec" and if you plan to farm for gold for a certain amount of time, it's well worth the money to re-spec to.

Every time you take a seat to drink or eat, you are knocking anywhere between 15-30 seconds off of your killing time. Let's say you can kill 5 mobs in a row without having to sit and drink or eat. That means, everytime you kill 100 mobs you are spending 10 minutes on your butt. That's a pretty large amount of time, and most classes can't even make it 5 mobs with some of the specs.

For instance, my Mage was Fire Spec for a while until I realized I was only getting about 3 kills on average in before I had to take a drink. I switched to frost, which is a premiere grinding spec and it got me up to 8 kills before I sat down. This is a great rate because I nearly cut my downtime to 2/3rd of the rate it was.

So next time you go out grinding, remember that downtime is a key penalty to the gold rate you pull in. You can easily double your gold rate over night by choosing the right spec for your character.

Wrath of the Lich King builds on the rich foundation established in World of Warcraft and The Burning Crusade, providing a wealth of new content for players to explore. The harsh, forbidding continent of Northrend, home of the Lich King and his undead minions, will be uncovered on the world map, and to contend with the new challenges found there, players will be able to advance to level 80, acquiring potent new abilities and talents along the way.

In addition, Wrath of the Lich King will introduce the death knight hero class to World of Warcraft. Once certain criteria are met, players will be able to create a new death knight character, which will start at a high level. Furthermore, player-vs.-player battles will reach a new level of intensity with the addition of siege weapons and destructible buildings, not to mention a new battleground. There will also be an abundance of new quests, dungeons, monsters, items, and recipes -- as well as a new profession, inscription -- for players to try out. The expansion will include some additional character-customization options for players as well. We'll be going into more detail on all of these features in the months ahead.
