World Power Crisis

Ranked #11,730 in Healthy Living, #189,081 overall

The world power crisis, we consume fuel oil at an accelerated rate every day. Saving power is everyone's responsibility using a renewable energy source can go a long way to make our power supplies last longer.

Is there a world power crisis? Is the demand for energy higher than the available supply? The answer to these questions is yes. We have always known that the world's energy supply was limited and someday would run out. Still day in and day out we take our energy supplies for granted and not only our energy supplies but also our water supply. Knowing this, we still fail to take the steps necessary to avoid a world power crisis. I don't mean just the worlds governments when I say we I mean everyone, everyone living on this planet.

Is The World Power Crisis Just a Myth?

Many belive it is.

Many people think that the world power crisis is a myth and feel that they won't see the end of our energy supply in their lifetime. They have forgotten about the 1970's gas shortage or the more recent hike in fuel oil costs in the 90's and more recent the last few years. Oil prices have been quickly rising over the past five years because of the ever increasing demand and slowly decreasing supply of non-renewable sources.

How Bad Of a World Power Crisis are We Facing?

So, do you know how long the non-renewable energy sources will last?

There are people out there that think our energy source will last a long time. They think that they won't see them exhausted in their lifetime and the world power crisis is a joke. Well here's an eye opening fact for those that think this is a joke. It is estimated that we have already used 50% of our available non-renewable energy source, fuel oil, and at the current rate of consumption of our fuel oil supplies the oil will run out in 30 - 35 years. This only if our current rate of consumption does not increase. Now is that very likely? I think we all know the answer to that, every day the rate of consumption increases so in our lifetime we will see our fuel oil supply exhausted. If this isn't a world power crisis than I personally don't know what is. If we continue on our present path our children will pay for our ignorance more than we will ourselves. Do you really want to leave your children in the dark?

Can We Do Anything to Get out of the World Power Crisis?

Is there anything we can do to make our non-renewable last a little longer?

We can if we first come to understand how important energy is, and the importance it plays in our lives. We must stop taking it for granted and begin to take the necessary steps to conserve what oil we have left. We must try to minimize our use of oil, electricity, gas, and yes even coal some electric plants still burn coal to produce electricity. It is up to each individual to try to spread awareness of our limited energy supplies and to begin doing the little things to conserve it. We could turn off lights that are not in use, car pool whenever we can. We may not be able to end the world power crisis but if everyone minimizes their power usage on a daily basis it will go along way in conserving what is left.

Is There a Way To End the World Power Crisis?

NO but there are alternative energy source options available to us.

Of course there is, they are called renewable energy sources, we live with them every day and don't ever think about them. So what are these renewable sources of energy we live with daily? One is the sun, solar energy is limitless a solar panel can produce electricity that can be stored in solar cells for night time use. Another is the wind, the wind can turn wind mills that can produce electricity. These are alternate power solutions that are not only cost effective but extremely feasible and if used you will not only reduce your present power bills but may be able to eliminate them altogether and contribute to help extend our non-renewable energy sources. It won't end the world power crisis but it can go a long way to help.

Some day soon these, solar and wind power, will be our only source of energy. Those of us that begin using them now will have a head start on understanding how to implement them and how to take full advantage of these free sources of energy.

Using renewable energy sources will not end our world power crisis. But if everyone would begin to conserve what is left and start using solar and wind power we may be able to eventually end our dependency on non-renewable energy sources.
