2 questioned in killing of adoptive couple
Detectives are questioning two people in connection with the killing of a couple known for adopting special-needs children, the Escambia County sheriff said Saturday. Investigators also have found a red Dodge van seen on surveillance cameras leaving the Beulah, Florida, home of Byrd and Melanie Billings, who were found dead in their home Thursday, Sheriff David Morgan said.

Mexican gangs gun down police in eight cities
Coordinated attacks in at least eight Mexican cities killed three federal police officers and two soldiers Saturday in what officials called an unprecedented onslaught by drug gangs. The attacks were in retribution for the capture early Saturday of Arnoldo Rueda Medina, a high-ranking member of the Michoacan Family drug gang, the state-run Notimex news agency reported, citing federal police.
