Determining Faction, Race, and Class of your New Character

This World of Warcraft Leveling Guide will examine the very first decisions you must make when creating a new character. These decisions will impact your gameplay for the life of your character.

I'm speaking of your faction, race, and class. Luckily, none of these factors will have a game-altering impact on your leveling speed.

As a matter of fact, whether you choose to play a Horde or an Alliance toon is just a matter of personal preference. Both factions have a lot of quests which is what you should be doing to level.

That brings us to race. Again, this is largely a matter of personal preference. If you are looking to power-game select a race that has abilities that work together with your chosen class.

Choosing the right class for you can make a huge difference in the speed at which you level. There are four factors you should look at in evaluating which classes will level fastest - Survivability of the class, mob killing speed, amount of downtime, and ability to travel quickly.

That leaves one clear-cut winner in the best class for power-leveling. The hunter with his pet to help with adds and his feign death ability should rarely die. He also deals damage quickly and requires little downtime. Aspect of the Cheetah will allow the hunter to move quickly from one hunting ground to the next.

The superior ability of the hunter to level quickly is not just my opinion, but is also the class used by most speed levelers. Joana's 1-70 Horde Guide's author used a hunter to go from level 1 to 60 in a record 4 days, 20 hours played.

Martin Malmberg, who purchased Brian Kopps 1-70 Alliance Guide and leveled to 70 in 8 days, 20+ hours also played a hunter.

Does that mean you need to play a hunter? Are there other good classes for leveling? You can play whatever you like, but it will just take a bit longer to level. Rogues, mages, and druids also level quickly.

Whatever you play, if you have a plan, you will level quicker than if you don't.
Joana's Guide and Brian Kopps Guide are outstanding. Either would be a very good World of Warcraft Leveling Guide.

WoW Mods - A World of Warcraft Leveling Guide Special

Learn how mods can make your World of Warcraft Leveling easier.

Following a World of Warcraft Leveling Guide is not the only way to make your leveling life easier. A good leveling guide will certainly do that and is well worth the money, but here are a few free resources you can use to help you level your character.

Mods are modules that you can download that will enhance your World of Warcraft experience. My favorite place to download mods is warcraft-mods.com.

There are over 100 mods available and they are rated by users. I'm not going to detail all of the mods, but will show you the three I think everyone should have.

My favorite is the Meta Map mod. It can be found here. These maps are editable and show where all the bosses are. That's just the tip of the iceberg. I strongly endorse this mod. This mod is so good it's the one that Joana's Horde Leveling Guide and Brian Kopps Alliance Leveling Guide uses to show coordinates that will ease your leveling.

If you want a cool mod that shows info about mobs including its class, health, and mana. You can see how many xp you got the last time you defeated the mob and even how many of that mob you'd have to kill to level. It will also track drops by mob. Very, very handy. Find it here.

The last recommendation doesn't help much with leveling, but it can be awesome helping you make money at the auction house. Auctioneer can allow you to quickly find bargains at the auction house, snatch those up, and resell at the appropriate price and can be downloaded here.

If you are saving for your epic mount, combining Auctioneer and theWorld of Warcraft Gold Secrets Guide will put you well on your way.

WoW leveling guides by themselves are great, but using a World of Warcraft Leveling Guide in conjunction with certain mods will make your leveling not only quicker, but more enjoyable. Happy modding!
