Talents in the World of Warcraft are secondary skills that will help you boost your primary skills and spells and make them better in different ways depending on the ones you choose for your character. While there are alot of wow talent guides out there, most people are unsure on how to use them.Talents come in the form of talent tree. Each Talent tree is dedicated to boosting one of your three primary skill trees. As an example, the tree primary skill tree's for mages are frost fire and arcane. Each one of them has a talent tree that will boost certain spells or aspects of the skills in the primary skill tree. Like the mages arcane talent tree, one of the talents will boost the amount of mana regenerate you'll get while you're in battle. This is extremely useful for your character if you are in combat a lot.
In total, there are 71 talent points you can get, you get your first talent point at level 1, and then one talent point per level all the way upto level 80. How ever, you can't just go and put them anywhere on your talent trees. This is where the "tree" comes into it. Each talent in the tree (except for the first 2-3 at the top), have requirements before you can put talent points into them. What this means, is you have to start at the bottom of the tree, and start building up talents there, and as you put more talents in, you'll start opening up other talents to be used.
In the end, the way blizzard has done the talent tree's is great, if you specialize in a single tree, you get some extremely powerful talents that will boost a certain aspect of your character, but I'll mean you won't be able to put your talent points in the other trees.
What a lot of people do, is they are very selective with their talents, and put just enough in to open up the top skills in one talent tree, and then use the rest of the talents in a secondary talent tree to boost some of the spells from another primary skill set. This can be very useful. As a mage, you might want to boost your fire spells to insane levels, but you'll also want to put some talents into your arcane tree, which will boost the amount of mana regenerate you get so you'll never run out of mana while in battle.
While there are only three talent trees for each character class, the options are limitless, and truly, only you'll know which ones will benefit your play style. In the end, it is best to read what all the talents do before you start spending them, and work out what you want to aim for. This way you can ensure you don't waste any talent points on useless talents that won't benefit you.
One thing that can help you with your talents, is the wow quest helper addon, it had some detailed information about talent guides for each class, and pre defined builds so you won't have to worry about working them out yourself. Click here now to find out more
