The world's best dogs are mine, of course!
And no matter who you are - yours are the world's best dogs. But since this is my lens, it's about my best dogs in the world:
Golly is a 13-year old Brussels Griffon. She's a complete princess - being queen would be too much responsibility.
Ceilidh is an eight-year-old Boston Terrier. She has two speeds - full and off. If she could talk her only sentence would be: "Throw the ball."
Roc is a seven-year old Brussels Griffon. He's Golly's nephew and as different from her as possible. He's got stage fright and loves watching TV.
Dax is a four-year old French Bulldog. She's the first dog I've ever had without a speck of terrier in her makeup. I've learned exactly what "bulldog tenacity" means.
These are the world's best dogs!
Golly
a.k.a. The Princess, Gollylicious, HeyYouShutUp
Wisselwood Golly G Whilikers, CD, (Golly) is a 13-year old Brussels Griffon. She has her novice Obedience title (Companion Dog), earned when she was three. Then she chose to stop. Princesses are polite, but firm in their convictions.Golly is the first female dog ever in our family. So we didn't realize, until we added other girls, that her behavior was unique unto Golly.
She is extremely easy-going - as long as everything is going her way. She does not play, she does not exercise. Toys are fun until they are contaminated by dog spit - even hers. Then they are discarded.
Golly gets along well with other dogs - she ignores them entirely, except for her lifelong boyfriend, MacDuff, a Border Terrier Agility Superstar.
Golly will not, voluntarily, let Fran out of her sight. She must inform us of every single movement on our block. And if she ever declines to eat - go directly to the vet's office. Do not pass Go. Do not collect $200.
Golly's Favorite Stuff
- Golly Gear
- This is the small-dog boutique we opened and named for Golly.
- Golly Log
- This is the blog we keep to tell everyone about Golly (and her sibling and cousins).
- MacDuff
- This is Golly's boyfriend, MacDuff. I said he was a superstar. He is.
Ceilidh
a.k.a. kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk, Party Girl, Dammit Kaylee!
Sugar Sweet Party Attitude (Ceilidh, pronounced Kay-lee) is a seven-year old Boston Terrier. She is the third Boston in the family, the sweetest and the nuttiest.Ceilidh is the "special" one in the family. She has two speeds, full and off. She is frightened of everything new - but incredibly brave because she tries. Whatever it is, she trusts us and tries.
We speculate that if Ceilidh were human, she would suffer ADHD. She is obsessed with her ball, a perpetual motion machine who is thrilled to meet everyone. But she cannot calm down on her own. Ceilidh loves Agility class, but may never compete - the stress might make her head explode.
Her doctor says that something in Ceilidh's brain isn't wired right. But that's okay, because she's sweet and silly and we love her.
Ceilidh's Favorite Stuff
- Ceilidh's Agility Class
- All Fours Dog Training is where Ceilidh goes to class. And after years of trying, her instructor can finally look at Ceilidh (sometimes she can even say her name!) without Ceilidh having to dash over and jump all over her. Patience is a virtue.
- Ceilidh's favorite ball
- We have many, many spares on hand. This ball is necessary to Ceilidh's happiness. And our sanity.
- Little Beasts
- Boston Terriers capable of semi-normalcy.
Ceilidh's our best model
Putting on the Rope-n-Go harness
The hardware-free Rope-n-Go harness looks complicated, but it's easy to put on and use once you've seen how to do it!

Roc
a.k.a. Dude, Little Man, Rocky
Wisselwood Wild Thing, CD, RN (Roc) is a seven-year old Brussels Griffon who has his Novice Obedience title, Rally Obedience Novice title, loves watching television (especially sports and cartoons), loves obedience class and is the best retrieving dog we've ever had.Roc is a funny little dude. He has a special bed he likes us to put directly in front of the tv. He'd watch 24/7 if he had his choice.
Roc's so smart!
Roc's Favorite Stuff
- Roc's favorite bed
- When we want Roc to stop barking at the leaves blowing down the street and go watch tv, we tell him to "go La-Z-Boy" and he jumps into this bed, parked directly in front of the tv.
- Our obedience club
- The North Shore Dog Training Club is our training "home" for obedience. Basically, every Tuesday night we all go play with our dogs.
- Roc's favorite team
- Roc's favorite sport is football. He's such a guy.
Dax
a.k.a. Daxina, DaxyDoodle, Bowling Ball
Gargoyle's What a Trill (Dax) is a four-year old French Bulldog. She hasn't accomplished much of anything yet, but we're hopeful. She loves going to Obedience and Agility Class. Her favorite food is salad (limp celery is our agility tug toy).
If Dax could talk her favorite word would be "uppy" - she's a champion cuddler. She's delighted to meet everyone, sweet as can be and single-minded as any creature on the planet. That's the whole "bulldog" thing.
She's also incredibly fast. And there's one less squirrel and bird in the world to prove it. Not our favorite dog thing, but a very doggy thing.
Dax's Favorite Things
- Dax's namesake
- We know that this just proves our incredible geekitude. We don't mind.
- Dax's agility class
- She's just started Agility, but she loves it. And has no fear. Which is slightly scary and a lot of fun.
- Frog dogs
- Everything you'd ever want to know about French Bulldogs.
Dax does agility!

What great lenses you have! So glad you stopped by so that we could meet. We're not all that far away from each other and I see you do agility. That's great! We need to keep in touch, K?
