Iraq War Compared to World War 2

The Iraq War is compared to World War 2. The two wars are not similar as supporters of the Iraq War claim. Invading Iraq did not prevent World War 3.

Compare Iraq War With World War 2........This is a Joke, Right?

The Iraq War is Not Comparable to World War 2

Many supporters of the Iraq War want to compare the Iraq War to World War 2. They claim that, if Hitler had been stopped in the 30s, there would have been no World War 2. That may be a true statement. But then they go a little bananas and draw the analogy that we had to stop Saddam Hussein or he would have become another Hitler and World War 3 would have occurred.

What a joke!

Saddam Hussein was no Hitler and Iraq was no Germany!

In 1939 (when World War 2 began), Germany was one of the most advanced nations on the face of the earth. In 2003 (when the Iraq War began), Iraq was an undeveloped nation with a much smaller population than Germany. There is simply no comparison between the two countries.

In 1939, Hitler was a mad genius with tremendous political ability and considerable talent in developing military strategy. He was a danger to the world.

Saddam Hussein, on the other hand, was a small-minded, sadistic leader with little true political abilty and absolutely no ability in military strategic.

Saddam was a joke compared to Hitler! He was not going to conquer the world. He was a danger only to the Iraq people.

No, the true reason for the Iraq War was the need for the U.S. to control the huge Iraqi oil reserves and the need for the U.S. to establish strong military bases for the coming severe oil crisis that is sure to occur as the nations of the world struggle to grab a share of the world's dwindling oil reserves.

As a practical person, I could have supported the Iraq War if our leaders had been forthright about the need for oil. But to claim that Saddam was involved in the 9/11 attack, and that he was developing WMDs and would start World War 3.....that was a bit much to swallow!

But, of course, the above opinions are just that. Let me know how you feel.

"Saddam is only a threat to Iraq" REALLY?! Where are you getting your information.. He was defined as "Small Minded" in your article.. Have you spoken to the people who have lived throught his "reign"? I appreciate your article, but I really feel like you are the one here who is Small Minded. Whereas there may not be an accuracy in comparing Hitler and Hussein side by side, they both will forever be known for their terror, death, and goal of dominating their "Religeous Beliefs".. History is supposed to be a lesson in what we should not repeat and hindsight is supposively 20/20, but where have we learned our lesson in reviewing our past history...

Singaporehosting: I agree to an extent. But do you not see any comparisson at all? Both wars have shed blood based upon religeous beliefs, which in my opinion was the bullcrap that achieved support,,
