The Wormling Series: Book 1 The Book of the King

The chapters are short about 4-8 pages long. Each is packed full of action and suspense. The main character Owen Reeder would be the pathetic looser kid in your high school, the nerdy invisiable type. However, the minute you meet Owen between the books pages you like him, by the end of the story you are rooting for him.
It's not an early chapter book, my son reads Harry Potter and this would fit along the same reading ability and interest.

The Plot of The Book of the King
Book One of the Wormling Series
As soon as you meet Owen Reeder between the pages of the Book of the King you instantly like him, he is kind and running away from the school bully. By the end of the book you are rooting for Owen and holding your breath as the bullies keep getting bigger.
The antagonist in the story was a nice surprise, it is a dragon. My son loves stories with dragons in them and I didn't know there was one in it when I bought it. This only added to his interest in the story. The dragon in this story is the apitomy of all evil and wants nothing more then to consume Owen with his firey breath.
Owen slowly learns about the evil surrounding him and if I say anymore I'll only give away some of the surprising twists and turns in the book.
Each Chapter is filled with suspense and you can't wait to read the next chapter to find out how each situation Owen finds himself in turns out.
The ending is abrupt to say the least, since we didn't have the next book in the series, The Changling, we were left hanging. I promptly ordered the next 2 books from Amazon.ca, both of us are waiting with anticipation for them to arrive.

Who is Chris Fabry
"Chris Fabry is a writer and broadcaster who lives in Colorado. He has written more than 50 books, including collaboration on the Left Behind: The kids and Red Rock Mysteries series.
You may have heaerd his voice on Focus on the Family, Moody Broadcasting, or Love Worth Finding. He has also written for Adventures in Odyssey and Radio Theatre.
Chris is a graduate of teh W. Page Pitt School of Journalism at Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia. He and his wife Andrea, have nine children, two dogs, and a large car insurance bill."
