Christan Worship Artists

Links to the web sites of today's popular Christan artists.
Chris Tomlin
One of today's top Christian worship song writers and performers. Chris has a special ability to marry the energy and passion of modern worship with an inspiring lyrical depth. One of my favorites.
David Crowder Band
Another popular artist, especially with high school and college students. David has a unique style of worship that carries a special sense of authenticity and passion. Definitely worth a listen.
Matt Redman
One of the artists & worship leaders that led the way in current modern worship. Author of some of my favorite worship music including: Blessed Be Your Name, The Heart Of Worship, and Let My Words Be Few.
Paul Colman
A new discovery for me with his new song, Gloria. He's been at it for over 10 years and has a handful of other songs you may have heard including "The One Thing". He's a talented artist that I'm anxious to get to know better.
Charlie Hall
I was introduced to Charlie through his "All The Earth" song on the Passion CD, Sacred Revolution (a great disc, by the way). Worth a listen for those looking for something that bridges that performance/worship line a bit.
Ross Parsley (New Life Church)
Ross Parsley is the worship leader at New Life Church in Colorado Springs, CO. He's a recent discovery for me but -- he seems to have a passion for teaching and provides a lot of good insight and resources for worship leaders including the New Life School of Worship.
Desperation Band
A collaboration from Jared Anderson, Jon Egan and Glenn Packiam (the associate worship pastors at New Life Church in Colorado Springs). From what I gather, the three came together to lead worship for the Desperation Conference and have produced 2 live recordings from those events. Some very good stuff here.
Starfield
This isn't a pure worship CD but -- the songs like Son Of God & Great Is The Lord make this a must have for anyone doing youth or contemporary worship. Young guys... A bit too much hair spray for my taste = ) but -- some great music.
Fred McKinnon & Highest Praise
Fred just has a genuine spirit about him that really rings of authenticity. His spontaneous, piano-led times of worship deliver a quiet and prayer-focused experience that really stands out from the guitar led worship that dominates today's airwaves. He doesn't post very consistently but it's definitely worth a listen when he does.
Brenton Brown
Brown lands somewhere between Tomlin and Crowder with a CD full of congregation friendly worship -- full of catchy choruses and simple (although sometimes powerful) lyrics. All together, this is just a great album of worship and -- he offers free chord charts to all of his songs on his web site. Gotta like that. = )
Matt Maher
I just found Matt thanks to the New Song Cafe at WorshipTogether.com and I'm definitely going to pick up his three discs. Matt's music is a bit ecclectic, spanning everything from the hymn-like and liturgical song "Litany", to the James Taylor-esque "Welcome To Life", or the full on rock offering "You Are God." Anyway... There's some good stuff here and I'd recommend taking a listen.

Modern Worship Resources

Online worship resources with interviews, sample songs, sheet music, chord charts, videos, articles, events, insight, and bible resources designed to support modern worship leaders and artists.
WorshipTogether.com
Online worship resource with interviews, sample songs, sheet music, videos, articles, events, and bible resources designed to support modern worship leaders and artists.
Passion For Your Name
Retreats, conferences, and resources for modern worship + a variety of articles and insight into new music and songwriting.
268 Generation (Passion Conference)
The offical web site of the Passion worship conferences with worship cd's, articles, links, and information on Passion events and related artists, speakers, etc.
Experiencing Worship
Quote - "The Internet's one stop shop for worship related information." The site includes content, articles, message boards, polls, studies, employment, drama, devotionals, and music (of course). = )
Hot Worship
Content includes: links to churches, mp3's, internet radio, teaching, tabs, sheet music, stores, articles, events, schools, software, etc, etc, etc... I can't vouch for the value of all the material but -- there is A LOT of content here.
Sermon Spice
Sermon Spice provides a centralized collection and distrubution point for Christian production companies, independent producers, and churches. A great resource for churches of all sizes. Also see Worship House Media below.
Worship House Media
Another Christian media company who creates and offers media support for churches in the form of videos, still images, software products, music, etc... Might be worth a peek, especially for you smaller churches with limited volunteers and talent to draw from.
PW Archive
The site include articles, message boards, worship set lists, links, and the usual peripheral worship stuff but -- their strength really is in the chord charts. From what I've seen, they are accurate and clean and... fairly comprehensive. They also include the ability to change the key of the song -- very cool!

Online Christian Communities

Online communities that provide news, articles, teaching, and discussion on a variety of Christian topics.
Monday Morning Insight
My favorite collection of church-related news and "musings" on the web from Todd Roades. This is a great collection, especially if you are interested in innovation in the Church. Updated several times daily.
The Ooze
Another great Christian community with conversations about faith, theology, culture, etc... This isn't updated as often as some of the other but -- there's a lot of good content here.
Slice Of Laodicea
News and commentary on the contemporary church, usually from a more conservative or fundamentalist perspective. There are some good articles here (when they aren't too busy bashing big churches). = )
Theology Online
An online forum created to discuss just about any theological topic you can think of. This community provides a sounding board to people from all perspectives, including a monthly "battle royale" featuring a topical debate by two frequent posters. If you're looking to get perspective on both sides of an issue, this is the place.
Out Of Ur
"Conversations hosted by the editors of Leadership Journal." Out Of Ur is a part of the Christianity Today network and includes articles on a variety of topics for the modern church. These guys have been at it for about 7 months now and have a lot of good content in their archives.
Raiders Of The Lost Church
Yet another site including commentary, articles, and current events relating to the modern church. Ian, as far as I can tell, is a one man show and has a very casual writing style and some good insight. Ian also updates nearly every day so he'll make a great addition to your rss feeds.
Lark News
Lark News is a satirical Christian news site that is sure to make you laugh, especially if you're in ministry. There's also a good chance it'll offend about 80% of you at the same time so... Use at your own risk. = )
Cerulean Sanctum
Dan has an ability to weigh in on a lot of topics with good information, without the conversation degrading into the typical of us vs. them tone of other sites. He's worth adding to your rss feed, if you're into that kind of thing. = )

Online Church Worship / Podcasts

Churches with high quality online teaching, worship materials, sites, or podcasts.
LifeChurch.tv
These guys do a incredible job of incorporating video into their weekly worship service -- really high quality stuff and... They have an online library of resources that anyone can download and use free of charge. The weekly teaching is great, although it may be a bit casual for the more liturgical of you out there. = )
The 7 Practices of Effective Ministry
The leadership over at Northpoint (Andy Stanley, Lane Jones, Reggie Jointer) have posted a great podcast series to communicate the material in the book, The 7 Practices Of Effective Ministry. There are some great thoughts here -- definitely worth a look for anyone in ministry.
Sermon Audio
Nearly 100,000 mp3 sermons from over 3,000 teachers, sorted by passage, speaker, topic, date, most popular, etc... Take a peek the next time you're looking for perspective on a topic or -- for a particular sermon. Chances are... Semon Audio will have it.

Christian Record Labels

Record lables that produce and distribute worship music. Many contain a variety of support resources (sheet music, accompaniment cd's, etc) for worship leaders.
Six Step Records
The home of Chris Tomlin, David Crowder Band, Matt Redman, Charlie Hall, and the popular Passion worship conferences.
Sparrow Records
Long time Christian label for many artists including Avalon, Newsboys, Steven Curtis Chapmen, Switchfoot, and the WOW worship series.
Inside Worship (Vinyard Music)
Distributor of a wide variety of landmark worship music over the past 15+ years. One of the first resources I remember for "modern" worship material.
Integrity Worship Resources
Articles, sheet music, mp3's, discussions, and tools related to worship and the artists on Integrity Music including: Paul Baloche, Micheal Gungor, Lisa McClendon, and Tommy Walker.
Vertical Music
The home of Desperation Band, Lincoln Brewster, Paul Baloche, MIchael Gungor, Jami Smith, Sonic Flood, and more. These guys also publish an eZine of sorts that includes information about worship resources, new music, and free downloads.
Indelible Creative Group
These guys are brand new but their first signed artist, The Longing, seems to have them off to a pretty good start. I especially recommend their first track, "Heal This Land", and "Undone" from Heather Powers and their Velocity compiliation CD.
Inpop Records
Founded by Newsboys frontman, Peter Furrier, and manager, Wes Campbell, Inpop is the home of Shane & Shane, Tree63, Petra, Paul Colman, SuperChic[k], Casting Pearls, Mat Kearney, and a new artist named Jimmy Needham -- a talented young guy that has really caught my ear.
