Are These the 10 Worst Songs Ever?

The votes are in and these tracks have been voted some of the worst songs ever.

You know, sometimes you are listening to the radio and a song comes on that just forces you to hit the off button. While it is, or has been popular, the song nevertheless annoys you to no end, inducing grimaces, groans and, in some cases, outright hatred.

So it is that Spinner.com came up with the twenty worst songs ever which, for many, now incite laughter, horror and despair.

It's always difficult putting a list like this together, because one man's junk can always be another man's treasure. I have to admit that I actually like some of these songs, but I'm not going to admit which!

However, here in descending order are the top ten of those twenty worst songs ever. Do you agree? If not, then you are invited to suggest your own song here.

Worst Song #1: Who Let the Dogs Out?

Baha Men

After hearing this song, many people have asked "Who let the Baha Men out?" In reality, this disc is not representative of the group's normal output, which is a mixture of Caribbean R&B, dance and rap music.

However, they released this song in 2000, and it quickly became the Baha Men's first (and to date, only) US and UK hit tune, also garnering them the Grammy for Best Dance Recording at the 2001 Grammy Awards.

This popularity led to it being used at a variety of sports stadiums, most notably adopted by the Seattle Mariners and New York Mets in the US, and fans of both Crystal Palace FC and Chelsea FC in the UK.

Worst Song #2: Ice Ice Baby

Vanilla Ice

The number two song is Vanilla Ice's (born, Robert Matthew Van Winkle) cannibalization of Queen and David Bowie's Under Pressure, along with his own version of rap.

The tune has caused Vanilla Ice a lot of trouble since its release in 1990. Although no royalties were ever formally paid, Ice reportedly paid an out of court sum to Queen/Bowie, and their writing credits were added retroactively to the disc.

Later, Ice alleged that he was dangled by the ankles over a balcony to a high rise building by Suge Knight (CEO of Death Row Records), in order to convince Vanilla Ice that he owed royalties from the lyrics to the tune.

As this song appears on many worst lists, some may have preferred that he was dangled by the ankles to promise to never release the record.

Worst Song #3: She Bangs

Ricky Martin

Is it Ricky Martin's fault that this song will be forever associated with American Idol reject, William Hung?

No, I guess not. Nevertheless, this tune released in 2000 by Martin, has received the inauspicious honor of being named as one of the 50 Worst Songs Ever by Blender magazine in both its original version and that of Hung.

Worst Song #4: Barbie Girl

Aqua

This song has turned up in more polls than you can shake a stick at:

Voted the fourth Best Number One of All Time in a VH1 poll, and was featured as #32 on VH1's Most Awesomely Bad Songs... Ever countdown. In another VH1 countdown, VH1's 100 Greatest One-Hit Wonders, it popped up at #88.

In 2007, Rolling Stone voted it as one of the 20 Most Annoying Songs.

In 2007, MuchMoreMusic voted it as one of the 50 Guilty Pleasures (#27)

Blender magazine also voted it at #33, as one of the 50 Worst Songs Ever.

Worst Song #5: U Can't Touch This

MC Hammer

This song undoubtedly became one of the most annoying tunes ever. It was everywhere, even winning (unexpectedly) the Grammys for Best R&B Song and Best Rap Solo Performance.

While it may have seemed cool to quote Stop! - Hammertime! back in 1990, the phrase has been overused so much in all forms of media since then, that it has caused a backlash and brings U Can't Touch This to #5 in the twenty worst songs ever chart.

Worst Song #7: I'm Too Sexy

Right Said Fred

Are Right Said Fred too sexy for this poll?

According to Spinner, no! Here's their assessment:

While the members of this British trio may be too sexy for their shirts, hats and cars, their 1991 single is not too sexy for our list of bad songs. The instrumental break, based on a riff from 'Third Stone From the Sun,' probably still causes Jimi Hendrix to turn in his grave.

Worst Song #8: Ebony & Ivory

Paul McCartney & Stevie Wonder

Another Number One single to find its place on the worst song ever list.

In fact, this is not the only "worst of" poll where it appears. Following the song's massive chart success, it was derided as "saccharine" and was later named as the tenth worst song of all time by Blender magazine.

In October 2007, it was named the worst duet in history by BBC 6 music listeners in the UK.

musicinmyheart says:

The titanic theme song is actually one of the best. It has one like 10 awards.

WordCustard says:

If find some of them fun. They have all been very successful so must have been doing something right. I too have heard some that are worse than several here.

KM9999999 says:

I actually like most of these.

Tommy says:

There are about a half dozen Def Leppard songs that could make this list! I'd have to say "Let's get rocked" would have to top it, (anything with the line "I suppose a rock's out of the question" and "let's get the rock out of here"-should end ANY and ALL arguments), but "Animal", "Armagedin it", "Photograph", "Pour Some Sugar on me", and "Two Steps behind" could have strong cases for being on the list.

eribert96 says:

Are you serious ? Titanic theme ?? That's one of the best songs ever !!!

suckers says:

every songs great you guys are suckers.

RVBeEtZ says:

WTF!! This list sucks. First of all i love 4-5 songs from this list but inclusion of Celine Dion's titanic theme was way too much.

crazyrealtor says:

I love half of those songs

Lulu says:

there are farrrrrr worse songs than the ones on this list and I consider some of the songs here actually very enjoyable. I think an update is in order.

KimAnisi says:

There are songs that are far worse for me.

Sara says:
