Yikes, Information Overload!
What Will You Do Differently
Hey, there is a ton of general information available on the what, how and where to do things concerning looking for employment. Some good, some a waste of time to read, and a lot is the same information. Many times, I've found that people are overwhelmed at the amount of information and just crying out a solution that will make them attractive enough to an employer to be hired.
Make Sure Your Resume Remains On Top After The Interview
I Found A Product That Will Help
The competition has always been fierce for the underdog. Now, the top dog may find themselves in a position where they are the under dog. Companies have restructured, just a nice way of downsized, outsized, let go, fired some folks, etc.Don't get stuck at being mad, just get going. Yes, you can stand out above all your invisible competition. They're invisible because you don't know who else is applying for the same position; you are shooting at a target blindfolded. So what the heck is a person supposed to do? There is a product called " Wow, You're Hired!" that I have reviewed and here's what I think about it.

Poor Chap, I Don't Think He Could Have "Wowed" Them
Let Me Tell You What I Don't Like First
You Can Agree or Not, But I Reviewed It
Preparation of the document is only specific to that particular company. So, you had better really desire the position for which you are applying, or your work will be in vain.

What I Like About, "Wow, You're Hired"
You are presenting a 30 day action plan at the first interview, followed by a 60, and finally a 90 plan. This document will be very useful for someone who may be applying for a position a little higher than their current skills and experience support.
If you are an internal candidate, it will demonstrate your understanding of various elements of the company. You will have a written plan of ideas, etc. Now listen although will have a kick butt document, don't give away the baby. In other words, don't try to present all documents at the same time. The system doesn't work that way. Share one or to items that will have measurable impact. The others will be shared once you are hired.

So There You Have It
Of Course, You Decide If It Helps You
No, it isn't a catch all, but it sure will put you in a position to stand out once you have gotten the interview. If you will follow the instructions, which are simple, you will have a "hot potato in your hand. Don't buy and lie (meaning you just read through the information, come up with your own version of how you are going to implement it, or sit it on the shelf to collect dust). That being said I recommend that you at least take a look at it and decide for yourself.

Video Resumes Coming Of Age
Have You Ever Been Asked To Submit A Video Resume?
Video resumes can be used to gather lots of information, and as a screen tool. Some jobs like trainers, presenters, may use this often since they are required to communicate in front of groups possibly. But I think it can definitely be used negatively.

- Lady T,
Thanks for your comment. I think everything has it's place. Although I don't believe that video resume will sweep the interviewing segment by store, if you are applying for positions as a trainer, this is a good way to assess some skills. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

- I have wondered about this, but have shyed away from positions that required a video. I don't believe I come across well on video. I understand how it can be a prescreening tool for employers, but that is overboard. I like the phone screen, and then the face to face.
