Wreck This Journal

Ranked #231 in Books, Poetry & Writing, #10,620 overall

A Creative, Childish, Liberating, Journaling Experience!!

I came across this book by accident while searching for a Christmas gift and being the mother of two free-spirited, exuberant girls, I immediately loved it. "Wreck This Journal" is not your ordinary journal at all. In fact, the pages prompt you to do things like scribble wildy, spill your coffee on it, drag it down the sidewalk, and take it into the shower with you. My daughter already saves the stickers from fruit and sticks them on a special chair in her room, so you can imagine my joy in seeing a special page in the book for those too! I know it sounds a little weird, but once you get past your fears of ruining a brand new book, you'll have an insane amount of fun completing the tasks!

If you're looking for a unique, creative gift for ANYONE, especially teenagers, this is definitely it. Be sure to get one for your BFF too! I can't even imagine how much fun a group of girls would have working on these journals together.

Yes, You Are Literally Supposed to Wreck It!

Keri Smith has brilliantly written this book that ends up being more series of memorable events and liberating random acts of creativity and recklessness. Each page prompts you to do something you would never think of doing to a book, but it is hard to resist the ideas, so you do it. You glue pages together, poke holes in it, spill food on it, stain it with whatever you can find, glue and tape objects to the pages, and scribble wildly as if no one was watching. It's edgy, it's creative and most importantly it's FUN!!

Wreck This Journal, I Dare You!

For anyone who's ever wished to, but had trouble starting, keeping, or finishing a journal or sketchbook comes Wreck This Journal, an illustrated book that features a subversive collection of prompts, asking readers to muster up their best mistake- and mess-making abilities to fill the pages of the book (and destroy them). Acclaimed illustrator Keri Smith encourages journalers to engage in "destructive" acts-poking holes through pages, adding photos and defacing them, painting with coffee, and more-in order to experience the true creative process. Readers discover a new way of art and journal making-and new ways to escape the fear of the blank page and fully engage in the creative process.

This Is The Coolest Gift, Ever!

The fun this book provides is highly contagious and all your friends are going to want one too!! "Wreck This Journal" is fun to give, it's great therapy, highly addictive, and great for relieving stress.

Warning:
If you are giving this book to a younger child you may want to remove the page that instructs you to "burn this page".

Encourages disrespect for books, I think...which should be treated as treasures...also I agree with Ener-G. The psychological aspects are ...well...frightening. Those are your thoughts you're destroying...I think...

DaveStone13 says:

At another age and mental condition, maybe, no such inspiration now.

Ener-G says:

I wonder if it has a reverse psychology effect on those kids who actually do like to destroy stuff?
