Wrestling Workout and Kettlebells

BY CHESS MCDOOGLE

A wrestling workout with kettlebells can have huge benefits. Kettlebells can compliment or even serve as a core aspect of a wrestling workout. Here's the benefits you will gain as a wrestler training with kettlebells.

1. Explosiveness and Power.

Kettlebells can greatly increase your explosiveness and this is key in wrestling. Kettlebell squats, clean and press, and especially combining the clean-squat-press as one motion will improve explosiveness. Working with kettlebells requires maximum effort as well as concentration and balance. All this translates over to more power. Many wrestlers have simply stated that they feel much more powerful wrestling after they had implemented kettle bell training into their workouts.

2. Conditioning.

Conditioning is a huge aspect of wrestling, and kettlebells can take your conditioning to another level. Doing a form of kettlbell circuits or kettlebell circuit training is incredibly taxing and exhaustive to the system. Exactly what you need in order to wrestle successfully and take home the win. The great thing about doing circuits with kettlebells is that you work your whole body. Every muscle gets its fair share of exhaustiveness and this translates over to a solid, overall well conditioned machine.

3. Strength.

Here's a huge benefit to a wrestling workout and kettlebells. Strength is an awesome asset to have as a wrestler. Using kettlebells can drastically improve your strength. Many powerlifters have incorporated kettlebell training into their workout, and their numbers have drastically increased. So as a wrestler, you can drastically increase your own strength levels and take that newly acquired strength straight to work on the mat.

Wrestling Workout - Can You Train for Wrestling Online?

BY CHESS MCDOOGLE

Now days you can do just about everything online, including various forms of exercise and fitness. There are full programs and routines you can find online and then train them right at home.

What about a wrestling workout?

While not as common as other forms of online fitness, it is possible to get on a good wrestling workout online.

What are some of the advantages of online wresting training?

The best advantages to online wrestling training is that you can learn all the basics on your own time and at your own speed. You can go over and over specific moves, and practically master these moves on your own.

The problem with classes are limited time, and the sped up nature that most of the classes practice. I took jujitsu for several months and had a hard time remembering the moves from class to class. I later discovered online workouts where I could watch and repeat the moves over and over, gaining a much better understanding of technique.

What are the disadvantages of online wrestling training?

The disadvantages of online training are that you lack a real life teacher that can physically be there and take you through specific moves. Also, unless you have a training partner, you will obviously miss out on the physical nature of wrestling someone else.

Nevertheless, a wrestling workout online will give you a major head start when and if you join a team or a class. You can be way ahead of the others, and gain major understanding ahead of time of holds, locks, and technique.

Mixed Martial Arts Training Tips

BY CHESS MCDOOGLE

There are three important areas to focus on when training for mixed martial arts. In order to be good in MMA, you need to train the following areas and become comfortable and proficient in each. Here they are:

1. Your Ground Game.

This consists mainly of wrestling, with some submission training thrown in. Basically you need to choose a form of grappling to train and become decent at. Ju-Jitsu is a good choice, as it combines both grappling with submissions and is highly effective in mixed martial arts.

2. Your Stand up Game.

Here you have to train your stand up game which will consist of some form of a striking art, such as boxing or kick boxing. A good choice for your stand up game training is muay thai. This focuses on both striking and kicking, as well as clinching and knee strikes. It's very effective for mixed martial arts.

3. The Cardio game.

This is extremely important and should be seen as a strong area of focus as a mixed martial arts training tip. You can be technically great at your ground game and your stand up game, but if your cardiovascular training is not good, then you can easily be beat by an average fighter who isn't as well versed in the ground or stand up game as you are. That's how important cardiovascular training is.

There are many forms of cardio that are highly effective. A good mixed martial arts training guide will put together an efficient and effective cardiovascular training routine tailored towards fighting, as well as providing optimal training methods for both your ground game and your stand up game.
