Are You Writing About Learning?

I've been searching Squidoo for lenses about alternative learning. I am in awe at some of the many, many fabulous writers there are here! What I'd like to do with this lens is just create a space for these writers to comment about their lens.

Oh yeah, the reason I'm looking for writers? I have a new website that focuses on learning in fun. Not just for elementary school kids but for kids from 0-100 ! I believe that we learn constantly from our life experiences. Including what we need to become accomplished in our chosen field or in more formal academic situtations. What I am looking for are writers that have information, ideas or life experience with learning in ways that have not been traditionally thought of as "the norm".

Keep in mind that each and every person in this world is different. Different cultures, different learning styles, different outlook on life, etc. What's good for one may not work for another but it's all good!

Got Learning Ideas?

Submit your lens in the guestbook with a short description and visit www.thefuninlearning.com to submit an article for publication!

There are a lot of ways to learn. Is it important to memorize facts for testing? Does that really help you when you grow up and go out into the real world? What are some alternatives to rote memorization and testing? What about those simulation games and role playing games? Is it really feasible to think that those can be used for true educational purposes? If your view is that testing does not truly show the quality of the eduction that a person has received, will schools ever be able to change their views on testing? What could the alternatives be?

Rose, I absolutely agree that learning should be fun and, in fact, IS fun! Since you asked :-) I will share my lens, Nurturing Imagination, which is about learning through imaginary play. I love your topic!
