Why words matter.

Advertising Hall of Famer Bill Bernbach said, "Dullness won't sell your product, but neither will irrelevant brilliance."

In today's fast-paced, gotta-have-it-yesterday, information-overload society, the words you say need to jump off the page in a meaningful way.

To do this, you need to understand the subtle art of promotional writing.

Not the style writing you turned in for English class (although proper grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc. is tremendously important) - the type of writing that connects with your audience.

Effective copy inspires someone to do something.

The secret (code for 95% of the work) is to understand:

-Who are you writing to?

-Why the heck should they listen to you?

-What you want them to do?

-How can influence them to do what you want them to do?

See, the writing part can be taught. There are tips and tricks (some of which you'll learn here) that can help you develop a beautiful writing style.

But effective copy does more than just sound pretty. It gets to the heart of the matter. For that you'll need an inquisitive mind, a keen understanding of your subject matter and a clear insight into your reader's motivation.

Ok, lets go!
