Overcoming Writer's Block

We'll give you some tips how!

You can overcome it!

Everyone experiences writer's block once in a while, even seasoned authors. One way to work through this is to take a break and relax. Focus on something else instead of forcing your way through. Get out for a walk in the park and enjoy the change in your environment. Doing this provides our mind with stimulation and helps us break away from the stress and routine of writing. It's amazing how your mind wanders and ideas start to pop into your head without you even realizing it.

Watching movies for a few hours will also help in getting your mind away from the monotony. Preferably, opt for comedies, cartoons and relaxing movies that do not require immense attention, contemplation and focus. The bottom line is to loosen up!

Another technique to get writer's block out of the way is to literally type out a story by one of your favorite writers. This helps to jumpstart your mind and gets it thinking in the right direction. After a period of time, you get your groove back and the ideas will start flowing into your head once again.

Brainstorming with someone else also helps in unlocking your mind. This practice allows you to tap into someone else's brain and utilize it to slingshot yourself forward. Sit down with this person and go through the core points of what you have accomplished, as well as the structure you have developed. Point out the problems you are currently having and get alternate ideas from your friend. Sometimes, it may even be a good idea to work with several people to generate solutions which you would not have thought of.

Hearing your own voice in narrating content may sometimes work in ridding writer's block. Get a voice recorder and begin talking about the section you wish to write about. You don't have to plan this, but just say whatever comes to mind. Then, transcribe what you have just said during playback. This technique allows you to write down your ideas and possibly achieve a breakthrough.

Finally, sometimes it's best to just take a break from home for several days. Set out for a holiday at a resort, or take off spontaneously to a hill resort. The change of environment, beautiful scenery and the fun you have will renew your mind for a fresh start when you return.
