Do You Love To Write?
Then as a teen, filled with the typical agnst, I was of course going to be a poet or philosopher...or at least a rock star that wrote meaningful lyrics. Of course real life happened and I ended up at a job I hated to pay the bills. The reality of working and raising a family didn't leave much time for me to write the next great novel, but I still loved to write.
I may never get around to writing an epic novel, but I am a published writer. I have hundreds of published articles, poems, stories and more online and I'm making enough money from my writing that I now work from home. I no longer have to punch a clock, suck up to managers and I can work in my pajamas if I want. I make more money now just by writing part-time than I did before working 50 hours a week, and you can too! Let me show you how.
Squidoo!
My Favorite way to write online!
I LOVE SQUIDOO!
Okay...I admit that yes, I am a squid-aholic! Squidoo is just a really fun and easy and Totally Free way to instantly publish your writing and make money online all at the same time!
Squidoo has the easiest to use format of any of the places I write, though you do need to learn a little html, because there isn't an html editor or spell-check included in the modules used to create the Squidoo pages that are called "lenses".
Hopefully they will eventually add these tools, but for now it gives us as writers that kick in the pants we needed to actually break down and learn html ourselves. Also there are numerous help lenses that you can visit to learn everything you need to know about html. Squidoo is definitely the friendliest online community I've ever been a part of. Everyone here is just really helpful and nice, Squidoo gets my top rating! Join Squidoo Now!
The Well-Fed Writer
Financial Self-Sufficiency As a Freelance Writer in Six Months or Less
In this era of entrepreneurialism, Atlanta freelancer Bowerman shows those timid (but talented) souls how almost anyone can forge ahead as an independent writer. His advice is good, couched in brassy prose that is easy to read. He anticipates every conceivable question and issue, including typical charges, marketing oneself, types of available work, and dealing with deadbeats. There are great common-sense tips, too, in the psychology of handling clients who think they are writers, those with limited budgets, and others demanding creativity. Personal anecdotes make the life of a freelancer real; the author includes samples of cold-calling scripts, thank-you notes, and a story or three about starting a writers' group and partnering with other professionals. For beginning scribblers only; more experienced soloists may disagree with some points made. ~ Barbara Jacobs, Amazon book review.

hubpages
Another great place to earn money from your writing
I'm just getting started at hubpages and still learning my way around the site, but so far it seems similar to squidoo in a lot of ways, and very different in other ways. I like using the squidoo modules better, I think it's easier to make a really dynamic looking page on squidoo.
Though to actually make a living from your writing, I think it's best to utilize all of the writing sites available. Each site has it's pros and cons. By limiting yourself to just on site, you also limit your earning potential. It's very easy to link all of your sites together, as you can see from this lens, that way people who enjoy your writing can easily get to other sites where you are also featured.
Hubpages is also a free site where you can earn money from your writing. Like helium and Squidoo, the more you write, the more money you can make. This is a link to one of my hubpages hubs: How Artists Can Make Money Online

What is Affiliate Marketing?
A great way for writers to make money online
Affiliate Marketing 101Affiliate marketing is an Internet-based marketing practice where a company rewards you (the affiliate) for each visitor or customer you bring to the company.
The affiliate (you) gets paid a commission for each sale you bring to that company.
Affiliate marketing is a great way for companies to get a lot of advertising for their website for free, because the affiliate (you) does the advertising. This way companies only have to pay for advertising that results in the actual sale of a product.
There are basically 2 kinds of affiliate marketing. One is direct affiliate marketing, where a company runs it's own affiliate program directly from their site. Some popular direct affiliate companies are amazon.com and allposters.com
The other type of affiliate marketing is third party. Third party affiliate marketing is when a lot of different companies use one to manage their affiliate marketing program. These third party companies like Clickbank and "commission Junction" then recruit the affiliate marketer (you) to market these other companies products.
Most affiliate marketers use both direct and third party affiliate programs.
Webmasters Make $$$
There Are A Lot Of Different Ways To Do Affiliate Marketing
Affiliate marketing can be done in a lot of ways. Some people use a lot of direct marketing by placing free and paid Ads and "Pay-Per-Click" Ads. Some people do affiliate marketing through personal blogs and websites, some people do article marketing and some use all of the different methods.
Affiliate marketing is not a way to "get rich quick." Successful affiliate marketing requires a lot of hard work, time and patience. Like anything else the more effort you put into it, the better your results will be.

Online Tips For Writers
*1.) Using good grammar and spelling is required at all times. Bad grammar and spelling is unprofessional and will negatively affect your earning potential. Spell check and visually edit everything twice before hitting the publish button.*2.) Always make your writing look as visually appealing as possible. Use bullets and section titles to make important information stand out. Always put spaces between paragraphs, nothing says amature like a big ugly clump of text.
*3.) Try to stay in second or third person narrative as much as possible, especially for article submissions. No one wants to read a story that is all about ME-ME-ME! Unless you are writing a review, memoir or biography, use first person narrative sparingly.
Adding a little bit of first person narrative can help to personalize your writing, I use it a lot for, making recommendations, introduction text and in bio or profile text. Though for most of your anchor text, especially if you are trying to sell something, people want to feel like they are included in what you are telling them.
*4.) Use lots of graphics, photos and visual aids, whenever possible. Some sites like helium, don't allow you to include images, so with those sites having high quality text, spaces & section titles are even more important. When using sites like squidoo and hubpages where graphics are allowed, make good use of them.
Having fantastic graphics can really make the difference, between a good experience and a great experience for the reader. People online want their information in small doses with lots of colorful visual stimulation to keep them interested. A story about a goldfish has much more impact if it includes some beautiful photos of goldfish.
*5.) Learn the difference between creative advertising and SPAM! People are much more likely to actually buy something from you if they feel like they know and trust you. Having a bunch of flashing ADs all over your page is a real turn-off. A lot of people won't even bother to read your excellent writing if they see more ADs than content.
