Get a job in writing
Getting a freelance job in writing should be easy, and there is no better way to earn a 6 figure income than this. Join me in my quest to do so and find out the sites that pay.
Fetching RSS feed... please stand byWe are all writers!
I am hoping that after reading this blog you will leave feeling more confident about your writing and will hopefully decide to submit a few articles to the websites below. Online earning is limited but writing articles is a fantastic way to express and share your ideas with others as well as getting a monetary reward for it.
Remember we can all write, it is just a case of getting our ideas down on paper to share with others. I am a average writer but yet I still earn some money from doing it, if I can, you can too.
Top Tips to improve your writing!!
1) You should chose a topic you feel strongly about and are knowledgable on. There is no point in writing about flowers if you have no interest in them and you do not know the difference between poppys and roses.
2) Research is the key for factual articles. I suggest using ask.com or other useful search engines such as google.
3) Write short concise paragraphs. A bulk of sentences may put some people off. But remember if you article is only 100 words long then it is probably not worth writing. I suggest at least 300 words.
4) If you want many page views, and page views mean earnings, then pick a popular topic that you think people will want to read about.
5) Do not drag an article out to make the required number of words, you should get to the point fairly quickly as your reader will lose interest.
6) Make sure your article has a body to it, by this I mean an introduction, which can be a few lines, a main body, which will make up the bulk of the article and then a suitable concise conclusion to finish.
7) Finally and most importantly check for spelling mistakes and grammar errors. Sometimes it is difficult to notice your own spelling mistakes, I recommend that you get a friend to do this for you.
Another quick tip is to read articles published by top authors in your interest area, I find this helps me to improve my articles.
Okay so now you have your article what next you may ask?
The good news is that there are several websites out there that will pay you for your articles. I personally use Triond and Helium, but I would recommend Triond for beginners.
Triond has the advantage of allowing you to write articles of any length and any topic and then they find a website to publish them. You get paid on the 15th of every month via paypal. It also has a very low minimum payout.
When you have more experience I would then suggest Helium. Helium have the advantage of a marketplace feature where publishers can buy your articles. They also have writing contests with prizes of $75. This is a good website for choosing your topics as you can browse topics and areas of interest and see what others have written before you.
After your articles have been published you need to promote them to increase your profile and page views, and hence earnings. You can do this by advertising your articles on blogs such as this, social networking sites such as myspace and yuwie, and on forums specialising in the type of articles you write.
Reasons for writing
Writing Websites
- Triond
- This the popular Triond website where I started submitting articles only 6 weeks ago. You get paid on pageviews, so the key is promote promote!! The more articles you write the more you will earn!! Almost forgot you can submit pictures and videos to this site too and get paid for them also. The good thing about this site is the fact that you can not submit anything from months and you will still be earning money on each and every article that gets viewed. If you make enough for payout the money will be deposited directly into your paypal without you having to even request it.
Open to International members! - Helium
- The fantastic Helium, visit and see for yourself. Plenty of different ways to earn on this site through pageviews, writing contests and marketplace feature. There are also ongoing promotions so be sure to check out the community forum. My only regret is that I did not join sooner. Open to international members and pays into paypal when you have accumulated $25.
- Associated Content
- This is a great writing site which I have just joined! You get paid upfront payments for some of your articles or if you wish you can place them on the site for display purposes and you get paid per pageview. The good thing with these articles is that you can submit them to other sites such as Triond and Helium. Best for US members as upfront payment is not available for international members, however I am from the Uk and still get paid on my pageviews. Pays into paypal, and minimum payout is $1.50.
- Qassia
- Not as much a writing site but a promotional site, which enable you to get backlinks to your websites and blogs. You earn qassia dollars via rating and submitting 'intel', ie pieces of writing. The more qassia dollars you earn the higher rank your site will be in qassia directory. The more intel you add, the more credit you will get, in the form of Qassia dollars. The more qassia dollars you have will the higher your sites will rank in the qassia directory. And for every intel you add, you get a backlink - this will be picked up by search engines and seen by people who read your intel. Lastly, if your intel gets a lot of pageviews, it may generate advertising revenue, all of which goes to you through your google adsense account. I highly rate this site as it as it is getting harder and harder to promote blogs, lenses and websites.

Helium's Summer Reward-athon
To qualify you must have at least one writing star and at least three rating stars by the end of the program. The only articles that count are those that are listed under the summer reward-athon titles. I am planning to write as many articles as possible as a one writing star member can earn $1 per article written, 2 writing stars earns $1.50, three earns $2, 4 earns $2.50 and a 5 star writer can earn $3 per article written.
Payday is on the 1st October!! And you can keep track of your possible reward-athon earnings on a daily basis.
There are hundreds of articles under most of the main categories. So get writing, there is plenty of money to be made!!

No contest! Helium rules! In fact, I entered 5 contests and won in each of them: the first couple times, I won $5, I won $75 the following week, $25 the week after, and then $10. It's fascinating and educational and keeps you on your toes during competitions. Recently, I decided to take a break from Helium's contests to work on Squidoo lenses, and I haven't regretted the decision, except that I may be a little more addicted to Squidoo than is good for my writing on Helium.

I say Helium is best. While both Helium and AC have payments by views, Helium has far more to offer with the Marketplace, Channel Contests, and the occasional rewardathon. Sure AC's got the Claims, but they don't pay that well - if at all! AC's few contests only reward a few people a year, whereas Helium's contests reward over 100 times a month.

Associated Content only pays international members on pageviews and does not give upfront payments, whereas Helium has a marketplace feature where publishers will buy articles from anyone.

Writing site that pays you through Adsense!
Xomba
- Xomba
- Get paid dollars through your google adsense account. One of the best new sites I have found for writing short blogs, as well as longer articles!
Hubpages
- My writing hub
- I have recently joined hubpages, and I love it. I inly have 5 hubs currently, but am adding at least one per week. On this site you earn through google adsense when someone clicks your google ads. You can also add affiliate products from amazon and ebay and receive a percentage from the sales. I find my hubs get alot of traffic from google, so I have added my blog, and it is a good way to get backlinks to your blog.
Is hubpages worth your time?
Although what I dont like about it is the fact that you are not paid on pageviews but on adsense clicks. I do get fairly good traffic with my hubs, but I hardly get any clicks so I have decided to abandon my hubs for the time being and focus more of my time onto squidoo!! Squidoo unlike hubpages does pay you for pageview if your lens is in the top 50 000 lenses.
Get paid for blogging
There are a few sites that will pay you including payperpost, sponsored reviews and smorty. In addition if you are getting good traffic to your blogs you should display ads such as google adsense or bidvertiser, which pay you per click.
I have started a series of blogs one,on my online money making, one on writing, one on heart disease and one on my favouite football team. I am hoping in time to register for a few of these paid schemes.

Gather
This is a writing site launched in May 2006 combined with social networking. I have not yet signed up due to lack of time but it looks like a fun place and the site is well laid out and easy to navigate. You can earn points which can be exchanged for giftcards, and active users can earn cash. This site is more for socialising than building a residual income.
Ehow
This is a site for American residents, and pays for content. You are paid into your paypal account, and there are a wide range of topics to write about.
In addition freelance writing jobs can be found on odesk and getafreelancer.
Make it fun
Writing should be fun, so if you are only doing it for the money , or as a job this will come through in your articles and result in poor quality.
Make it more fun by writing on articles you have an interest in and want to know more about. I find the research I do behind my articles very interesting and it inspires me to keep going.
