The 2008 WSOP will begin with the $10,000 buy-in World Championship of Pot-Limit Hold'Em and end with the Final Table of the $10,000 buy-in World Championship of No Limit Texas Hold 'Em -- otherwise known as The Main Event or WSOP ME. The six other $10,000 buy-in events include: Heads-Up No-Limit Hold'Em; Seven-Card Stud; Limit Hold'Em; Omaha Hi-Low Split Eight or Better; Pot-Limit Omaha; and a new Mixed Event. The Mixed Event will feature eight variations of poker: Limit and No-Limit Hold'Em; Omaha Hi-Low and Pot-Limit Omaha; Seven Card Stud; Razz; Seven Card Hi-Low Split; and 2-7 Triple Draw Lowball.

The big news in poker has to be the announcement by the World Series that the final table of the Main Event will be adjourned to November, once the lineup of players has been determined.

"November Nine" Top Total Field of 6,844 to Compete for Share of $64 Million and WSOP Champion's Bracelet on Poker's Biggest Night of Poker the WSOP 2008 Final Table.

In descending order of chip count, The November Nine are:

poker is definatly a game of skill. luck does have a part in it though. But if u just play luck its stupid cause poker is like this: 25% luck,25% skill, 25% knowing oppomnents, 25% knowing the game........so u cant play luck.

i said u have 25 % luck....... but thats only the limit u can have cause u can have much less.......thats where the other 3 factors come in.....

I definitely go with skill. Sometimes people get lucky but their luck will eventually run out, if you have skills you are going to go a lot further in the game. Poker is a complex game of not only knowing which cards to play and what bets to make but also reading people. That's the part I find truly fascinating. I'm pretty good at this skill but there are plenty who are way better than I am, which is why I am not a professional poker player. LOL
