How to fix the three flashing red lights on your xbox 360
What happened to me
I have had the replacement Xbox 360 for around six to nine months now and 'surprise, surprise', it's starting to act up again. Just in case the worse happens, I went and did a little research and found some tips on how to fix the three flashing red lights problem!
Start with the simple fix for the three flashing red lights
- Cables might be loose
- If using A/V cables, make sure they match each color in the inlets of the TV
- Restart and check if the the three flashing red lights are still there
2) If it's not a cord issue, there are likely hardware problems (as indicated by the two red lights or the three red lights)...in which case, you should give these a try:
a) isolate your console from other electronics
- if you are using a power bar of some sort that is powering more than just your Xbox 360, try plugging your Xbox 360 in another outlet or vice versa. The reason for this is the Xbox 360 console itself draws significant power and your current configuration might not be providing the necessary voltage (one and three flashing red lights are indicators)
b) listen to the fan
- Is it louder than usual? If so, that means you are working the console is little too hard. Shut it down, go have a coffee and come back in a few hours.
- do you even hear the fan? If not, most probably your fan has failed. You should probably get in contact with Microsoft
If these simple fixes don't work:
If the three flashing red lights are still there, you might choose to go through the Microsoft support and send your Xbox 360 in for repair. Personally, I wouldn't choose this route becausea) it will take roughly a month to complete the process (send it there, get it fixed and send it back to your house)
b) shipping and handling fees are EXPENSIVE

Another reason why it's my first choice:
Recommendation #1 owner HAS BOUGHT ALL other repair guides online to compare with his OWN product!!! His guide has fix numerous one and three flashing red lights. Quoting exactly what he said:
"I have personally bought all (yes ALL) the other repair guides online and...I feel sorry for people who buy them. They offer tricks like "wrapping your system in a towel" (which you must NOT DO FOR ANY REASON) or give you brutally unclear instructions. This guide is the only one that offers safe, simple, video instructions for the whole repair, and I actually use a red light system and show you it is working after. (no other guide does this!)"

Even though this is $5 cheaper, I am more attracted to product #1. REMEMBER, owner #1 bought all the other guides to compare it with his own product.
So, it's your choice when the three flashing red lights haunt you:
1) SAVE that $5 and go ahead with recommendation #2
2) or spend that $5 and join tens of thousands (yes, tens of thousands) other people who have used recommendation #1 to get their Xbox 360 working
CHEERS to the three flashing red lights being removed forever!
It's a WIN - WIN either way!
