Xbox 360 Ring of Death

Xbox 360 Ring of Death

It's 6pm, you got all your buddies over for the greatest beat down tournament in halo ever to take place. Hell even your cousin john who's down once every ten years, is there. And you got everything ready, you got the endless nachos, the beverages and a brand new HDTV you just bought the day before.

So you turn on your system, and maybe everything goes all right, hell, you even get 5minutes into the first match. But, then it happens. (Red Ring of Death) The power button goes red, and you, john and your best friend mike are the first to run over and make sure everything is plugged in. Surely the cat just tripped a wire right? Unfortunately not, the screen is black, and the power button is red. (A definite sign of the Xbox 360 Ring of Death)

So like a group of concerned parents you rush to the computer for answers, you probably already know your problem has many names, from xbox 360 ring of death, to 3 red lights, to xbox 360 red ring, to even E74.

This is all to complicated, Microsoft wants you to ship the xbox 360 ring of death system to them; wait for the repairs and hope you didn't pack anything extra with the Xbox 360, otherwise it's gone.

I personally repair the Xbox 360 Ring of Death at home and at my store front. Unfortunately most of the recent repairs we've had to make came strictly from people following poorly written guides off of Forums and Ebay.

That's right, there are many poorly written 3 red lights guides out there, just waiting for someone with no idea what they're doing, to screw up their Xbox system, and warranty.

So what are a lot of these poorly written guides including? Some cell phone taken pictures, maybe a text based youtube video if you're really unfortunate. Without the proper guidance, I don't think anyone can fix their Xbox 360 ring of death.

So what does a good guide include; besides step by step guides, and high quality photos? High quality videos that you can download to your computer, not some youtube hosted video like most guides. The thing is, I've reviewed some of the most popular guides on the internet, I've tested them for effectiveness and written a review for each and everyone of them. Those can all be found on my website. (But that's not what this article is about.)

This article is a discussion on your options, besides my reviews. You can attempt to do further damage to your system by freezing a towel and wrapping it around your system, eventually suffocating it. Or you can take some guide off a forum/youtube video and apply it; gambling with your system and warranty.

Or you can ship your Xbox 360 Ring of Death system off to Microsoft and play a game of go fish tonight.

Whichever option you choose, is really up to you. But I must request that if you do attempt to repair the xbox yourself tonight, that you do not follow some poorly written guide for the ring of death. That you at least make sure it comes with a guarantee like the ones they've reviewed.
