xbox 360 Red Lights

Want to know what the xbox 360 red lights mean and how to fix them? Discover the secrets to getting rid of the xbox 360 red lights of death permanently.

So I came home from work the other day looking forward to firing up my xbox 360 and enjoying some online gaming.  Nothing like taking out some terrorists to relieve some stress right? Rainbow Six Vegas was already in the tray so I hit the power button and waited.  Then the sinking feeling hit me.  Around the power button I could see flashing red lights.  Some of my buddies had told me about their xbox's experiencing the xbox 360 red lights of death, but I'd never seen it......until now.  I frantically turned off the system and turned it back on, hoping to avoid the xbox 360 red lights flashing.  No good.  The red lights on the xbox 360 were blinking, taunting me in my quest to play.  I turned off the system again and went to get a drink.

I wanted the thing fixed ASAP, but didn't know where to begin.  That's when I started doing some research and calling a few friends who had the same problem.  Some said they sent the system to Microsoft, but it took weeks and in the end they spent $140+ to get it fixed....if Microsoft could fix it. I was disappointed.  That's when a friend called me back and told me about a guide he found online to fix the xbox 360 red lights problem.  He said it was called the Xbox 360 Fix Guide.  He said he used the guide and had his xbox 360 up and running again in about an hour or so.  The guide wasn't free, but for $25 and the hope that it could help me fix my xbox in only an hour, I took a chance.  I purchased the guide.

The guide was great.  It diagnosed my issue and walked me through how to easily fix it.  In a little over an hour after purchase, my xbox 360 red lights issue was no more! I was back online fragging terrorists and enjoying my xbox 360 again.

This happened a few months ago and I've not had any more problems with the xbox 360 red lights of death.  For $25 and an hour of time, I was able to repair my xbox 360 thanks to the xbox 360 Fix Guide.  Cheaper and faster than sending the system to Microsoft or having to buy a new system entirely.  I've also helped repair a few friends who ran into the red lights of doom as well.  None of the solutions involved wrapping the 360 in a towel either.

Check out the xbox 360 Fix Guide.  I highly recommend it.

What the xbox 360 Red Lights mean

Here is a brief description of what the xbox 360 red lights mean when they are flashing as well as some simple solutions for fixing them. If you want more information, I suggest picking up the xbox 360 fix guide. This helped me solve my red lights of doom issue and can help with any other red lights issues that surface.

All 4 lights are flashing red - AV cable cannot be detected. Make sure the AV cable is connected securely to the 360. You can usually listen for a "click" to know that it's secure.

Lights 1 and 3 are flashing red - Xbox 360 has overheated. Unplug your system and let it cool down for a while. Some people say 5 minutes, but I think 30 or more is a better idea. Also make sure there is plenty of room for ventalation.

Lights 1,3, and 4 are flashing red (aka 3 red lights, red lights of doom, your system is screwed, etc) - General Hardware failure. You can call Microsoft and send your system in, but it will take a few weeks and likely cost in the neighborhood of $150. It's also possible they can't fix it and you have to buy a new system. I used the xbox 360 Fix Guide and was able to fix my issue in a little over an hour. So your choice - $150 and two weeks for a possible repair, $400 for a new system, or $25 and an hour of time. I know the one I would choose.

Light 4 is flashing red - hardware failure. This one depends on the error code displayed on the screen. Most if not all of the possible reasons and solutions are covered in the xbox 360 Fix Guide.

Fixing the Red Ring of Death on your Xbox 360

If you've owned an Xbox 360 for any length of time or know someone who has, then you are probably aware of the dreaded "three flashing red lights of death." What are the "three flashing red lights of death?" They are when three of the four lights around the power button for the Xbox 360 start flashing red when the system is turned on. This isn't the only problem that can occur with the Xbox 360, but this problem is one that often requires repair work to be done on the Xbox 360 in order for the blinking red lights to go away.

The Xbox 360 three flashing red lights of death is an indication by the Xbox 360 unit of a General Hardware Failure. Turning the system on and off or allowing the unit to cool down will not eliminate the problem. The system will need to have repairs done. Microsoft support is able to perform these repairs, but there are some issues regarding this. First, in order for Microsoft to repair the Xbox 360, the unit must be shipped to them. This process alone can take a few weeks and depending on the severity of the problem can cost around $150 to have the problem fixed. So after a few weeks and close to $150 you get your Xbox 360 system back and hopefully it is repaired. Hopefully meaning Microsoft was able to fix the issue and the system was returned without being damaged again in transit. Click Here

The other solution is to try to fix the three flashing red lights issue yourself. To do this you need to pickup the Xbox 360 Red Lights Repair Guide. This guide offers step-by-step instructions on how to easily fix the "three flashing red lights of death" as well as other Xbox 360 issues like overheating, graphics errors, and freeze ups. Many people have reported using the Red Lights Repair Guide and getting their Xbox 360 back in working order in around an hour. Certainly faster than the turnaround from Microsoft and much cheaper ($25). Click Here

While the Xbox 360 Three Flashing Red Lights is a showstopper for any Xbox 360 player, it's a problem that can be quickly and easily resolved using the proper guide and tools. Instead of waiting 2 or more weeks for the Xbox 360 to return from Microsoft, a 360 player can perform the repairs themselves and get back into gaming.
