You're Just Another Victim of Microsoft's Xbox 360 Red Ring of Death?

Xbox 360 Red Ring of Death!

So, it's pretty much safe to say your a victim of the "Xbox 360 Red Ring of Death" and you know it hit you where the sun don't shine!

Your Xbox 360 was fine one minute while you where blowing away charlies on Call of Duty 4?

When out of nowhere your screen started flickering you started hearing weird sounds come from your Xbox 360. So you restarted your Xbox 360 only to see the Xbox 360 Red Ring of Death flashing before your eyes...Nooooo (I know the feeling!)

And now your on the internet wanting to know how you can fix your Xbox 360 Red Ring of Death with having to shell out those $140.00 bucks to microsoft.

If you wanted to fix your Xbox 360 yourself, you have probably come accross some iffey methods that just seem like that would damage your Xbox 360 more than actually fix it.

For Example: The infamous "Towel Trick". Have you tried it? If you haven't pat yourself on the back , steer well clear of it.

"If you have, then you probably already know that the "Towel Trick" is more likely to set your Xbox 360 on fire than to fix it."

I mean, come on, who really believes that wrapping your Xbox 360 in a towel is going to fix a hardware problem on your Xbox 360 know as the Red Ring of Death
or the 3 red lights of death.

"If you have tried the Towel Fix then you know it plain out doesnt work and if it did you got no more then, lets say 5-10 whole minutes of game play... wooohoo and your back to sqaure 1"

It's just another internet myth!

Red Ring of Death Myth!

Soldering the GPU and CPU with no experience. " Its not like using a solder gun to connect some speaker wires".

To believe you can crack open your Xbox 360 case and fix the problem yourself with a soldering iron is plain out crazy.

Their is really expensive equipment that professionals use to remove and re-apply solder balls to electronic equipment. It's not for a do it yourself home project!

The Xbox 360 is a serious piece of high tech equipment, not a toaster or a George Forman grill. You try the "solder" fix and what you're most likely to do is cause more damage. (then your really out of luck.) I guess you Xbox 360 could make a good paper weight!

So what does that leave you with?

Well, you could send it back off to Microsoft. But that's going to set you back $140 plus shipping with or without warranty. Your probably risking not getting your Xbox 360 back because of our great mailing system.

And you're not likely to see your console for 6 to 8 weeks, minimum. Doesn't that sound like a lot of money and fuss just to fix your Xbox 360 from the Red Ring Of Death?

5 Simple Tips To Prevent The Xbox 360 Red Ring of Death

1. Never put your Xbox 360 inside your entertainment center.(not enough air flow)

2. Never place your Xbox 360 on a carpet floor. (The carpet absorbes heat and doesnt let the Xbox 360 disipate the heat as fast as it should)

3. Never place your Xbox 360 in a closed cabinet while playing.

Xbox 360 2 Red Ring of Death!

Cause: System over heating do to lack of air flow. Scenario 2:Incompetent thermal compound under your Xbox 360's GPU or CPU.

The Xbox 360 2 red lights is a safety feature that completly shuts you Xbox 360 down to save your Xbox 360 from a complete melt down (really over-heating).

Diagnostics and Fixes

1. Do you get the 2 red lights as soon as you turn your console on? If you answered YES your Xbox 360 needs new thermal paste.

2. Where you playing for hours when you got the Xbox 360 2 Red lights? If you answered YES your Xbox 360 is suffering from lack of air flow. Take it off the carpet / out of your covered entertainment center / use a canned air duster to clear dust inside your Xbox 360.

"2 Red lights in most cases lead to the RED RING OF DEATH!" So keep it cool

Tips to Prevent Over-heating

4. Keep you Xbox 360 away from any other heat source. ( computer, dvd player, Back of TV (dont ask) or any other electrical devices.

5. Use compressed air to blow dust out of your Xbox 360.

Things to avoid doing!

1. Do not place your Xbox 360 in extremely cold weather like a fridge or a freezer. This will cause more complications becasue the Xbox 360 was designed to work properly in or close to room temperatures.

Xbox 360 4 Red Lights

Cause: The cause of the Xbox 360 4 Red Lights is because your AV (audio\video) cable has been disconnected therefore causing your Xbox 360 to flash the 4 Red Lights.

Diagnostics and Fixes

1. Look on the back of your Xbox 360 and check to see if your AV cable is in simply not connected and connect it that should fix the 4 Red Lights.

2. If you see that your Xbox 360 AV cable is connected their might be a bad connection (loose cable). Unplug the Av cable and reconnect it. This should rid the 4 Red Lights.

Tips to Prevent the 4 Red Lights

1. Never leave the av cable in where someone can trip over it causing it to get disconnected. Which can be very damaging to both the Xbox 360 and the AV cable.

2. Always check your av and power connections are plugged in before starting your Xbox 360 up.

I have suffered the fate RROD and this was after warrenty expiration so I learned the hard way. Place your Xbox 360 on a piece of styrofoam. This will allow heat to escape. Always remove your disk before shutting off your console and if possible use multiple fans pointed at your xbox 360. This will ensure maximum cooling.

you know guys the only reason getting RROD on xbox 360 because of overheating right. I used one method to really prevent it while playing lay the xbox 360 dvd style and put a electric fan on the other end opposite side of the console not where the hardrive is and turn it on it will make your 360 cool for hours doesnt matter how long you play.

As long as this happens within 3 years of your purchase, microsoft will fix it for free. You just have to miss your 360 for about a month.
