Welcome to the introduction to blogging Lens for the XMediaWA project.

Blogging has rapidly taken off in the last few years and has has a big effect on areas such as internet culture, journalism and print based
publications.

So, What is a Blog?

Blog is short for web log, an online diary. They have become immensely popular over the last 2 years and are one of the best examples of the internet changing from being a passive medium where we read information to an active medium where we are constantly adding information.

Blogs cover a million different topics, some are online diaries, people share their lives, hopes and aspirations, others are more specialized on a particular subject.

There are some fairly common features though, most have the most recent post at the top and you scroll down to read older entries. Most have access to archives and older posts as well.

Most Blogs are created online through simple free web based publishing programs. Some of the more common are Blogger, Word Press and Live Journal.

Gladwell: Best Selling Author Malcom Gladwell has a blog too.

Cross-Media Entertainment: Sydney based Academic and AFTRS LAMP contributor Chrisy Dena blogs about Cross Platform Media in all it's forms.

Blogpulse: Blog Pulse analyses blogs popularity and content.
Meet Up with Perth Bloggers: There is even a meet up group for Bloggers.

Our Blogs

XmediaWA: Alison and Graeme set up the Blog for our project a few months ago in preparation ,we have posted things now and again, but not really made much of an effort yet.
Graeme Watson: Graeme has been blogging for a while now.
All the Cool Kids Got One: Clancie reluctantly got a blog too.
Anamoronic: Tim created a blog about animation, he has let Clancie and Graeme contribute to it too.
Reading Circle: Alison has a blog about reading books and her family.
