Is our Solar System just the Sun? Well, it wouldn't be a "system" at all if it weren't for all the OTHER STUFF floating and orbiting around it! A look at the illustration shows the major planets in our solar system, pretty much to scale, with the Sun (not to scale) off in the background. Horscopes written for daliy papers, weekly and montly periodicals use what is called "Sun Sign" Astrology. This is not to disparage the practice, but to clarify what it is and the limitations of the system. A Solar Chart can give great information, there is a wealth of knowledge that remains untapped. Any time you try to make a generalization for a large population, there are going to be huge volumes of information lost at the expense of reaching a broad group. The larger the audience, to be effiecient, the more general you must be. Daily, weekly and monthly Sun-sign scopes are the fast-food, pre-packaged, one-size-fits-most kibble of Astrology. Made for convenience and mass-consumption. Essential nutrients and content are stripped away to increase the shelf-life or make it more palatable. It is stuff to "tide you over" or "whet your appetite". Again this is not to knock Sun-Sign horoscopes- there is a lot of good stuff out there. Just be aware that serving 50,000 customers in a quick and cost-effective manner, means giving up some stuff. Obvioulsly the Astrolgers writing the Sun Sign columns do not have birth charts for everyone in their audience. Even if they did, trying to individualize a report meant for the masses would be impossible. If you want specific and personal, go see your friendly neighborhood astrologer for a personal consultation! Here we will look at: -What Sun Sign Astrology is and How it Works -Other Influences: A Basic Look at the Planets -How to Get More Out of Your Daily Horoscope
