As I was watching a recap of last night's Olympic coverage, although it is really stretching my imagination, I thought of how similar we network marketers were to the competing athletes.

What??? I told you it was a stretch of the imagination.

As I was watching a recap of last night's Olympic coverage, although it is really stretching my imagination, I thought of how similar we network marketers were to the competing athletes.

What??? I told you it was a stretch of the imagination.

Do you think the Olympics ever had a first time Alpine skier participate as he/she hurdled themselves down a mountain at speeds up to 155 mph? Of course not. There are years and years of comprehensive training following years and years of skiing on one's own.

Yet we "experienced" network marketers are quick to send out a new recruit to our business to prospect, get sign-ups and build, build, build their business. (We may as well take them up to the nearest mountain and tell them to slap on a pair of skis. And, oh, by the way, I want you to reach a speed of 155 mph as you barrel down the mountain.) In both instances we are setting our newbie up for a fall.
