Adsense sites are websites that make money by publishing ads. from Google's pay-per-click program called Google Adwords (aka Google Adsense). Google Adsense started back in 2003. It provides an easy way for all kinds of sites to be able to easily publish Google Adwords ads. on their existing sites. These ads are known as Google Adsense, and Google Adsense is arguably one of the easiest ways to make money online right now. (NOTE: Don't forget to bookmark and rate my lens, add it to your favorites and lensrolls!) "MAKE MONEY ONLINE - IT'S EASY!" As soon as it's possible to make money online there will always be internet marketers willing (and able) to exploit the opportunity. The Google Adsense opportunity was no different. The last 12 months has almost seen a feeding frenzy when it comes to Adsense ebooks or adsense templates or adsense videos showing you how to make lots of money with your very own adsense website. There has even been the phenomenon of Adsense Is Dead! Anyway, back to the plot. There are several types of Adsense sites: Made For Adsense Sites (MFA) These are sites created soley for the purpose of making money from Adsense. These sites are often created using adsense templates with content taken from the public domain, or sold specifically to be used on an adsense site. Content usually targets a specific niche where the cost per click is quite high ($5 per click upwards, perhaps). Note: Google shares the cost per click with the publisher. The exact revenue share is not disclosed by Google. Example sites? Do a search for adsense templates and you'll find plenty! Content Sites These are websites that provide useful information, opinions, site listings, product reviews, original articles etc. for their site visitors. The combination of content and Adsense makes for a winning combination for all concerned. Example adsense sites include Squidoo, Digg.com, YouTube, Flickr and my own sites HowIPromoteMyWebsite.com and TextMeFree.com Blogs Blogs are specific kind of content site, that provide a web log (or journal) based around a specific theme. Blogs can be personal or business-focussed. Google owns Blogger - a major blogging tool - and actively encourages the users of Blogger to integrate Adsense ads into it. Example blogs include Darren Rowse's Problogger Adwords/Adsense arbitrage This is type of site that has little or no content. In fact the site may only contain adsense ads. Visitors to the site come from low-cost clicks from Google Adwords (or MSN Adcenter or Yahoo!) web log (or journal). The aim is that the click on much higher cost-per-click ads on their site. So a visitor might cost $0.05 but they might click on ads. that earn the site owner $0.50 Examples sites? Well you will find hundreds of these sites at AdsBlacklist together with reasons why MFA sites are not liked by owners of reputable adsense sites ADSENSE SITES RELY ON... 1) Visitors. If visitors don't visit a website, they don't click on the adsense ads and no money is made :-( 2) Testing. Some ad formats and ad colours make more money than others. Adsense site owners (Adsense publishers) have to test to find this which is which. :-) 3) Google. There are specific things that Google does not allow Adsense publishers to do with their adsense sites. Google may ban site owners from their program. There are adsense-equivalent alternatives from Yahoo! and MSN, however. 4) Keywords. It's all about targeting the right keywords, the keywords that pay, and the keywords that fit into your site. Unsurprisingly, there are many keyword suggestion tools. (Keyword Workshop is a great place to find out more!) By the way, what do you think the keywords are for this lens? ;-) Note: the above is summarised on this Google Adsense page -- I've rambled on for far too long. You'll find some more adsense sites below, some great Adsense books (for ebooks do a search for Joel Comm or adsense ebooks). I'll leave you with this great example adsense site - a guide to making money from Google Adsense no less. No, this is not my site!
