Beyond that though, a surprising number of these boy-targeted mangas and animes are seriously lacking in good animation, storylining, and character development. Yello Tanabe's Kekkaishi series, however, is one of the select shounens that pushes the bar; characters are surprisingly deep and thought out, the story is mind-blowing, and the animation is consistent.</description>
