There are many specialist backpacks too - for everything from notebook computers to skateboards (or snowboards !) A good durable student backpack isn't cheap- but you really want it to last. If its not a well known brand like  Jansport or Targus or a brand you haven't heard of, then do check the straps or fastenings as these are the main problem with cheaper backpacks.
