Web 2.0, is the second iteration of the web, possibly a euphemism for, or perhaps even the antithesis of, 'dotcom,' which has almost become foul language.

Web 2.0 encompasses the entire phenomenon of a more prolific, more exuberant, robust, networked, and lightning-fast, broadband Internet.

Social networking and sharing, including text (blogs), audio (podcasts), and video (YouTube, Google Video,Yahoo Video, as well as 'video podcasts) is now all the rage. Newer video communities such as Vegas Buzz Video, focus on videos with well, a 'local focus.'

Within this framework issues arise regarding the creation and sharing of a wide variety of multimedia files. Thanks to communities such as YouTube, Google Video, Yahoo Video, Broadcaster, and many others, the erstwhile multimedia producer - or simply commentator - need not do much to embed a video in his or her blog or RSS newsfeed. The power is in the commentary and marshaling of information in a coherent form. The platforms - blogging platforms in particular - have rose to the occasion, enabling anyone to make weblog entries with photos at any time they please without groveling and begging before the IT department or tyrannical webmasters. No more. Communities like our Squidoo are responding to a real need - 'people-reviewed information.' No matter how good the Internet search engine 'bots get - and they're very good - they're still not going to be able to replace that certain quality of the human mind that can pick one thing over another for what might appear to be logic-defying rationale.

This section is dedicated primarily to the creation, production, commenting and sharing on a whole host of things, primarily video, within the context of the new World Wide Web, Version 2.0

We'd like to see discussions on how to find and make video better, and how to network socially on a larger and grander scale for the benefit of all.

And yes, Madison Avenue runaway train that it is, hasn't yet discovered the economies and miracles of social networks. Not just yet anyway.

Look forward to seeing you on Web 2.0!
