Free Traffic For Your Squidoo Lens

Let me be clear right up front.
I am not going to ask you to buy a single thing in
order to implement this method of driving traffic to your lens.

This is a method that works, is viral and will continue to work ongoing for your lenses. The only thing you have to do is to follow the instructions as laid out in this lens.

This will work for existing lenses as well as for new lenses that you build. I would recommend that if you are doing this for new lenses, that you hold back some content so that you can update your lens over time. This is something that I was doing as a matter of course anyway.

Without further ado, let's get started!

The instructions will assume that you already have a lens completed and ready to promote...

They also presuppose that you have something relevant to say. You will be posting content to the internet, so to avoid being labelled as a spammer, or worse it is important that you understand that even a short blurb of less than 140 characters needs to have a purpose. It needs to say something other than just "I want traffic!"

Enough ranting...

Have fun!

Floyd Bogart

*Wow! This lens has become something of a lightening rod in a growing controversy over Microblogging. Let me go on record here on this issue. When you go about making posts to "Microblogging Platforms" you need to be mindful to make your posts useful. Brevity is no reason not to be relevant. Content can be both short and still have merit. If someone doesn't find your posts to be so, they can and will stop following or subscribing to your posts. 'Nuff said!

Oh, and to all of you that have taken exception to my work here: Thank you sooooo much for all the lovely traffic. Have gotten much positive input from folks that would never have seen my lens if not for your comments. So again, a heartfelt TY!

Genepax - Water Powered Fuel Cell Vehicle

This is the type of innovation that should be going on here in the US if we ever hope to fix our economy and it's dependence on foreign oil. And while, yes it may prove out that the hype about this particular vehicle by Genepax is way more than it deserves. at least these folks are in the ballgame!

Why is no one talking about ending our dependence on any oil instead of just foreign oil?

Anyone can see that the handwriting is on the wall, and that a major overhaul must take place. And it must take place immediately.

A vehicle powered by a renewable resource would be a welcome addition to the effort to change the status quo.

Rant over.

Enjoy!

As her role progressed, it was very dificult not to amend that to: Wow!! She sure is talented! Nothing I have seen her do since has changed that opinion. This is one talented, as well as beautiful actress. I expect that one day soon we will start to see more of her on the big screen as well. Enjoy!
Little Feat

It is perhaps a simplification to say that Little Feat emerged out of Frank Zappa's Mothers of Invention, but that is what we will go with here... Beyond that what this ensemble accomplished musically defies description. Can you listen to this Gumbo of sounds and styles and sit still? Not sing along? If so, then you just ain't listenin'! Bonnie Raitt famously said that she "missed Little Feat more then she missed being eight years old." A remarkable quote from a time after Lowell George had passed away when the remaining members had yet to recoalesce into the Little Feat that we continue to enjoy today. My own love affair with this ultimate musicians band began in my college years and built from two double albums. Yeah, this was before CDs and I bought these as LPs. They were, of course "Waiting For Columbus" and "Hoy Hoy." Obviously I came to the party late, and Lowell had already checked out. Lowell's vocal style is often imitated but ultimately his alone. The liner notes to "Hoy Hoy" called it "Vanilla Grits" or "White Boy Got The Woo-Woos." Just listen to the vocals on "Spanish Moon" or "China White" and you will get a feel for what this means. Add in his bottleneck guitar playing and you have musical genius even without his unique arrangement style. Lowell frequently went out of his way to make songs musically complex to achieve what he called the "Cracked Mosaic" effect. Just listen to the early work and you will find plenty of examples of this. Do not get the impression that this was just Lowell's vehicle though, as the rest of this group was and is composed of amazingly accomplished musicians. Unfortunately Lowell cast a rather large shadow both literally and figuratively and his demise left things in disarray for a time. For my money the next most vital member to the whole has always been Bill Payne. What a keyboardist! The list of people that he played studio sessions for is amazing, and his reputation is well established in musical circles. Bill is just a bit more reserved onstage than your average frontman, so many are unaware of him. You just can't ignore his talent though. With their eclectically distinctive musical style, respect from their peers far beyond their commercial success and a fiercely devoted cadre of fans Little Feat's place in musical history was already cast in granite by the time Lowell was gone. And we all know there are no second acts in American life right? Guess again! Little Feat eventually reformed, and are back out on the road and doing amazing work again! You have probably heard a few of their tunes even if you are not a fan. Songs like "Let It Roll" and "Rad Gumbo" have shown that these guys will continue to make amazing music far into the foreseeable future.
Avery Brooks

The illustrious and multi-talented Avery Brooks first came to national attentio (or at least mine) playing Hawk in the series Spenser For Hire. The series was based on the (still) best-selling books by Robert B Parker, and the part seemed custom made for Mr Brooks. His performances in that role were inspired. The role has been played by others in a few cable-tv movies, but the two actors that had the job of following up on Avery's portrayal never had a chance. Not their fault! The bar was already way too high... Avery Brooks also played this role in a spinoff that only lasted a season. This show was titled: A Man Called Hawk. The other role that Mr Brooks is widely known for is that of Benjamin Sisko of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. For some reason, this show never achieved the status and following of the other Star Trek franchises, which is a shame. For my money it was the most original in plot, writing and scope, not to mention the excellent acting on the part of the cast and the wonderful character development of none other than Mr Brooks himself. If you check the timeline between these two projects you find a rather large gap, which is good! As Avery Brooks truly is a Renaissance Man on the order of Paul Robeson. Check out the YouTube videos below and you will find one where he is reading an excerpt from Ossie Davis' Purlie Victorious which showcases his amazing voice and amazing emotional range. This man is a national treasure, and should be appreciated by all... Floyd Bogart

Best known for his album cover artwork from back in the 1970s right through the present, Neon Park is one of those artists whose work most have seen, but few know who he is. This is a shame... Probably his best known (or at least easiest to identify) work is the album cover he did for Frank Zappa "Weasels Ripped My Flesh." Okay so not all his work is aimed at kids! lol Other works that have been widely appreciated are on the albums of the band Little Feat. Frankly this is where my own exposure to Neon Park began, but thankfully didn't end... There is a wealth of work out there, all imaginative and well executed. Go on and take a look at what we have on this page, and explore the pagelinks to see even more...
Dave Matthews Band

Dave Matthews Band sax player LeRoi Moore dies

By RAQUEL MARIA DILLON

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Dave Matthews Band saxophone player LeRoi Moore, one of the group's founding members and a key part of its eclectic jazz-infused sound, died Tuesday from sudden complications stemming from injuries he sustained in an all-terrain vehicle accident in June. He was 46.

Moore died at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center, according to a statement released on the band's Web site. The statement did not specify what led to his death.

Moore was initially hospitalized in late June after the accident on his farm outside Charlottesville, Va. He was later discharged and had recently returned to his Los Angeles home to begin a physical rehabilitation program when complications forced him back to the hospital on July 17, the band said.

Galina Shinder, a nursing supervisor at Hollywood Presbyterian, said the hospital could not release any details.

Ambrosia Healy, the band's publicist, said the band's show Tuesday night in Los Angeles was not canceled. Saxophonist Jeff Coffin, who played with Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, had been sitting in for Moore during the band's summer tour.

Moore, who liked to wear his trademark dark sunglasses at the bands' live concerts, had classical training but said jazz was his main musical influence, according to a biography on the band's Web site.

"But at this stage I don't really consider myself a jazz musician," Moore said in the biography. Playing with the Dave Matthews Band was "almost better than a jazz gig," he said. "I have plenty of space to improvise, to try new ideas."

Lead singer Dave Matthews credited Moore with arranging many of his songs, which combine Cajun fiddle-playing, African-influenced rhythms and Matthews' playful but haunting voice.

The band formed in 1991 in Charlottesville, Va., when Matthews was working as a bartender. He gave a demo tape of his songs to Moore, who liked what he heard and recruited his friend and fellow jazzman Carter Beauford to play drums, and other musicians.

The group broke out of the local music scene with the album "Under the Table and Dreaming." The band won a Grammy Award in 1997 for its hit song "So Much to Say" off its second album "Crash." Other hits include "What Would You Say," "Crash Into Me" and "Satellite."

Warren Zevon was one of the greatest songwriters of his generation. Even people that have never heard his name are at least passingly familiar with several of his songs. With a writing and performing career that spanned decades, his work was eclectic, and had a sometimes bizarre twist to it. He was probably best known for songs like "Werewolves of London", "Lawyers Guns & Money" and "Excitable Boy". This type of work earned him the reputation as the "Brian DePalma of RockNRoll". Warren succumbed to a brain tumor on September 7, 2003. In one of his final TV appearances David Letterman asked Warren what he knew that Letterman himself did not. Warren answered, "Just how much you should enjoy every sandwich." Warren's music has enjoyed a resurgence in popularity by both fans and musicians covering his songs since his death.

There is suddenly an interest in who and what the Fabian Society is, and how it may or may not affect the policies and principles of Barack Obama in his role as possibly the next President of the United States.

There is a lack of interest in outside philosophies in the US today that I find worrisome. It is frequently useful to examine the thoughts of others to clarify our own thoughts. Sometimes this will help to find flaws or holes in our own logic.

IMHO it is the sign of a small and closed mind to dismiss the thoughts and concerns of others out of hand and without seriously considering the merits of another's point of view.

This is in no way an endorsement of the principles of the Fabian Society, but hopefully will serve as an introduction into their core principles and beliefs.

There has been a resurgence of interest in the works of Leonard Cohen in recent years.

Particularly since the release of the movie "I'm Your Man", a retrospective of Mr. Cohen's music performed by himself as well as a whole array of other performers including U2, and Rufus and Martha Wainwright.

His music is now being recorded by a whole new generation of artists, and is frequently used in both television and movie soundtracks.

He is like no other...

GREEN DESIGN IS GOOD DESIGN
GOOD DESIGN IS GREEN DESIGN

Inhabitat.com is a weblog devoted to the future of design, tracking the innovations in technology, practices and materials that are pushing architecture and home design towards a smarter and more sustainable future.

With an interest in design innovations that enhance sustainability, efficiency, and interactivity in the home, Inhabitat's attention is focused on objects and spaces that are eco-friendly, multi-purpose, modular, and/or interactive. We believe that good design balances substance with style. We are frustrated by the fact that a lot of what we see being touted as "good design" in magazines and at stores is all style and no substance. A lot of contemporary design merely imitates the classic Modernist aesthetic without any of the idealistic social agenda that made Modernism such a groundbreaking movement back in the early 20th Century. The flip side to this is that oftentimes real technological innovations - the ones which will eventually change the way we live our lives - are often not packaged into enough of a stylish aesthetic to move beyond niche circles and crossover into mainstream popular taste.

Likewise, we are frustrated at seeing an emerging category called "Green Design" - as if sustainability is somehow seperate from good design in general. We believe that all design should be inherently "Green". Good design is not about color, style or trends - but instead about thoughtfully considering the user, the experience, the social context and the impact of an object on the surrounding environment. No design can be considered good design unless it at least attempts to address some of these concerns.

We believe in the original modernist ideology that form and function are intertwined in design. Style and substance are not mutually exclusive, and Inhabitat is here to prove it!

Cat Stevens

Try to listen to the music of Cat Stevens and not be just uproariously glad to be alive! I know that I can't. And the message in his music is so positive... Just amazing stuff. He is, of course also one of the more prominent people to have converted to Islam and therefore gets a great deal of heat with the current state of affairs in the world today. Personally I think it's all a bunch of bull. What I do know is this: There isn't another artist out there of any religion that can write and perform music that is consistently positive in message, and full of an absolute love of life and all of God's creation than Cat Stevens. On the other hand I could be wrong, and the heavily slanted right-wing media may be right. Frankly I could care less. IMHO most of the popular musicians of the last 100 years or so couldn't have had their morals, beliefs and/or lifestyles scrutinized without something objectionable being discovered. So I present this lens in the spirit of Cat's music from my youth. Enjoy the music, the memories and the pure joy of a simpler time... Floyd Bogart

The Colbert Report

The Colbert Report started out as a fake commercial on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

They put together this 60 second spot that was essentially a very satirical take on shows like Bill O'Reilly's show, The O'Reilly Factor. It was so well done, and hilarious that Comedy Central asked them to do the show for real...

Watching the first few shows was great, but I didn't think they would be able to maintain that level of satire ongoing.

Boy did they prove me wrong!

It is now 1:30 PM EST as I sit here at my trusty HP notebook typing away.

Over the next 24 hours I will be attempting to not only publish 24 new lenses, but also to make them of high enough quality that I may attain the rank of Giant Squid!

My lenses have recently been garnishing a great deal more attention, and this has motivated me to venture forth and see what I might do with a concentrated effort. I have a host of sources for subject matter, and "an unlimited supply of Hot Pockets and Xena tapes" (The first to tell me the source of this quote gets a prize)

Guess I'm ready to roll!

Watch this lens for progress reports, and RSS Feeds of each new lens as I progress through my journey...

The awards and acclaim that this show has accrued are well deserved. The Daily Show takes political satire, as well as comedic political commentary to previously unseen and unheard heights.

While the show definitely has a liberal slant, don't be fooled. The Democrats get skewered along the way too.

Their "in your face" attitude and style make every show a not to be missed event. You haven't really seen the news until you see what Jon Stewart and his crack writing team do with it.

I first came across Sean Mize as the author of articles addressing a challenge I faced marketing products with a hefty price tag. The article was just the ticket! It told me exactly what I needed to know, and I was back at it...

Time went on, and I found that Sean's articles were quite often great sources of info. So I started following what he wrote as a matter of practice and not just when I went looking for solutions.

If you have not become familiar with him yet, take a look at his articles at EzineArticles.com. His author page is HERE.

The titles alone tell you what a great resource Sean Mize is. 6,704 articles there as of this writing, and it grows steadily.

Sean Mize is amazingly successful at Affiliate Marketing, as well as Marketing his own products. So the fact that so much of his efforts go into Article Marketing is good enough for me.

So to learn more about Article Marketing, who should we turn to?

Sean Mize of course!

Robert B Parker is the author of the Best Selling Spenser books that were the basis for the "Spenser For Hire" TV series starring Robert Urich and Avery Brooks. More recently he has started two new series of books. The Jesse Stone books which have already begun to be used as the basis for several "Made For TV Movies" starring Tom Selleck as Jesse. The other new book series is a bit different as it involves a female main character. Mr Parker was asked to write the Sonny Randall books as a vehicle for Helen Hunt. Although nothing has come of that yet, the books themselves are typically excellent. Robert B Parker lives in Cambridge, MA so it is not surprising that all three of these series of books are centered in the greater Boston area. As such, there is some crossover in characters between them - some major, some minor. I would be wrong not to mention that Mr Parker has written several "stand-alone" books. There have been westerns, a baseball book (about Jackie Robinson) as well as others, including one of my favorites, "All Our Yesterdays." I hope you find as much enjoyment in the books of Robert B Parker as I have. Happy Reading! Floyd Bogart

My favorite environment is the water, and my favorite sound is of running water. So paddling a boat instead of using a noisy, smelly polluting engine is definitely my idea of a good time.

I have enjoyed many different aspects of paddlesport in my life and enjoyed them all. From racing to cruising to whitewater to extended touring...

You get the idea.

My first boat was an Old Town Canadian. It was 17'2" LOA and a joy to paddle alone or solo. It was an old Peterborough Canoe Co. design that was rediscovered by Ralph Frese of Chicagoland Canoe Base.

If you are just getting into this activity, there is a tom of information out there about where to go, and what to do, and what you need, and what you don't need, and what to wear, and how to stay safe, and just about anything you may have a question about!

Go paddle something...

This was just about my first introduction into the world of both Internet Marketing and Affiliate Marketing as well. Suffice it to say, that I didn't know what I had my hands on! And I walked away from it.

Stone Evans had put together his own unique product designed to help relative newbies at Internet Marketing become successful building downlines in quality programs. He keeps abreast of what is going on in the industry and adds (or sometimes subtracts) programs to make sure his "students" or clients are promoting profitable programs and products.

Shoot, this guy even has his own section in the prestigious Warrior's Forum!

Take a look at his body of work, and I think you will be impressed. Maybe you will even be inspired to create your own program, and become as successful as Stone Evans has become.

Your Quick Start Social Marketing Kit

One of the most recently coined Internet marketing terms is "Web 2.0" ... but what does that mean for you and your business ?

Well, basically what it means is that your marketing tasks just got a whole lot easier!

Here's a quick explanation of Web 2.0 so you can begin to see the possibilities...

The "old" World Wide Web has evolved into more than just information being written and posted by website owners. Now, anyone with a computer can contribute content of any kind to their favorite websites...

They post videos on YouTube, they create their own web space in the form of blogs and web pages at MySpace or Squidoo, and they post comments on other people's blogs, MySpace pages, You Tube, etc.

Web 2.0 means that the Internet "surfers" of today don't have to settle for just riding the wave... they can create the wave by interacting with other web users!

And the best part is, these social networking sites make it easy as pie to find topics that they're interested in and form groups of people with similar hobbies and interests. These groups grow larger and larger every day as more users discover them, many times being invited by their friends.

The number of people in these groups can multiply faster than rabbits. Just imagine what this can do for your business!

The old saying "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em" applies here...

When you join the hundreds of thousands of users of these social networking sites and 'gently' let them know about your business... the sales will soon follow!
