Doodling is generally seen as something everyone can do and therefore not really "art". The internet and scrapbooking have caused doodling to come into its own as a legitimate art form.

Creativity Reiki - Free Attunement and Manual

Creativity Reiki utilizes the univeral life force to remove blocks from your chakras, give you more inspiration, higher energy, and greater access to your imagination and archetypal levels of consciousness. It is a practice I have developed based on my own work with energy and creativity for the last two decades. Creativity rarely works in a straight line, so although this is a manual and attunement, start with whatever you are drawn to here. Most Reiki starts with the attunement but this is not ncessarily the case here. For example, you might feel the need to prepare your creativity altar (see below) before you really feel ready for the attunement. That's perfectly acceptable. Artist Trading Cards (or ATCs) are playing card sized pieces of art. Like baseball cards, they are traded from artist to artist. They can be collages, paintings, drawings, quilts - basically any sort of art you can think of.

Intuitive Portraits

In early 2005 I did some experimenting with what I call “intuitive portraits”. I’ve never been much of a portrait artist. One night I was playing around and drawing a friend and I found that my hand wanted to keep drawing other faces on top of my original drawing of her. I decided that maybe my inability to draw faces exactly as they are was not a mistake but my strong intuitive capacity coming to the foreground. I wanted to explore this some more so, as part of a promotion at the Artella Words and Art website I offered free drawings. I expected five responses and received 25+ requests! I didn’t have an exact method for this, other than being open to wherever my hand wanted to go with minimal direction, exactly the opposite of what I learned in my college art classes. I worked with some photos of the subject but didn’t intend to make the drawing look like them. The drawing on the left is an example of one of those portraits. Since then I've discovered that there are other artists working in this way and I am fascinated by their process. Image copyright 2005, G.L.

Mail Art

This lens is my attempt at pulling the various strands of the mail art movement into one cohesive resource. Mail Art, or Postal Art, is many things to many people: sending art randomly to friends, swapping art covered envelopes with other artists and many variations including artist trading card swaps.

My friends involved in correspondence art in the 1980's and '90's were counterculture folk interested in recycling and giving postal workers something interesting to look at. I found mail art to be part intellectual artsy snobbishness (and I can talk cause I've been there, done that) and part silly madness. It was a way to let the otherwise serious artist's trickster side come out. Today there are so many people of varying degrees of artsy-ness sending works of art through the mail to each other that it's become more of a fad and less of a statement. But, at the same time, I think it's a good thing that the line between an "artist" and the rest of the populace is getting blurred. To me, the concept of mail art is what started that merging of worlds.

Angel communication resource including free online angel oracles, recommended books, music and meditations for guidance in opening your own channels to the angels, links to angel communicators and artists, and articles about how to communicate with angels. Angel communication is becoming much less of something reserved for special people and more something that everyone can do. I am able to channel angelic messages the more traditional way, but as I've been working on this lens lately the message has come to me that I should let people know that they are talking to the angels all the time, in many ways. It's coming to me as I write this that we humans have divorced ourselves from our own angels in such a way that they seem separate, yet the angels are a part of each of us. A part of us that has been neglected, ignored and shut down. The easiest way to talk to an angel is to write a dialogue with them. Make it up. It will still be valid. If it makes you feel good and loved, you've made the connection. If you get frustrated, the angels are still there. They're just helping you through some negative feelings. Image copyright 2005, G.L.

Art Shaman

As the Art Shaman, I use art as a tool in assisting someone's soul for the purposes of transformation. It's a title I created for myself through my involvement in the online reality of Second Life. In the realms of art, shamanism, magic and Second Life the line between reality and imagination are very blurry. (My lens about Second Life) In a way, I am just posing as an "art shaman", making it up as I go along. But that's the way it is at the heart of creativity, too, and that's where transformation happens. The Art Shaman is real and not real at the same time, standing in the middle of the creative flow. The art I do is mainly intuitive. (My lens about intuitive portraits.) I rarely know what's going to happen as I sit down to work. I have been attuned to Usui Reiki II and Kundalini Reiki to the Master level, so the energy flows from my hands as I work. I know, intuitively, that the art I make can change the viewer's energy field, aligning it to higher vibrations. That's something I knew was happening even before I read the Healing Power of Hado (see below). The Law of Attraction is a hot topic right now, and my goal as an artist is to give people an image they can put in their surroundings that can actually help them attract the things they want in life, especially on an emotional level. Some people would consider it sympathetic magic, and it is. And it works, especially when charged with the universal life force energy. (See my lensroll for a lens about the Law of Attraction) In my studies of subtle energies in the human body I have learned about the chakra system. There are many books and websites about chakras now, and I have links elsewhere on this page. My art is designed to "tune up" your chakras in order to increase your own creative flow and also draw into your life the things you want by repatterning your own energy field and unconscious mind.

The Second Life Scrapbook of Brunnhilda

Brunnhilda Quonset is a persona created for living and working in a virtual world known as Second Life. It may seem strange to some, but since I do art and music and am otherwise wildly creative in "real life", putting on another costume and character is not so strange. The "real" me is basically a blank canvas on which to put various masks, anyway. And - in all honesty - "Bru" is oftentimes a truer expression of my real self. Unlike some in Second Life, the real person has some basic similarities to her avatar, the main difference being physically twenty years older in real life, and much less physically beautiful. Bru is a chance to explore some things that can't be done in real life, at least not with the same immediacy, if at all. She has been a lot about playing dress up and doll house. She's another vehicle for me to express myself with imagery and interactive conversation - a sort of virtual 3-D art journal.
