Cinderella Hoops

Basketball I just want to say for the record. I don't believe in fairy tales. Any and every team that makes the tournament, whether they deserve it or not, no matter how BIG or small the conference, have a chance to win and advance. There are no such thing as Cinderellas.

Each team, over the past 5 months, not including the individual efforts during the summer, have positioned themselves in some way for post-season play. Unfortunately, not every team will make the post-season partly due to the fact that there are only two well-known post-season tournaments (a third added this season: College Basketball Invitational). There's just not enough overtime for everyone.

Cinderellas, if you look at it from the fairy tale point-of-view, are those teams that are scrappy, work hard, and basically don't have the talent to match up against the so-called Power Conferences. Huh? You know, the teams that are in the ACC, Big East, Pac-10, Big Ten, SEC (I guess). (Just to name a few, are the POWER Conferences.) The so-called teams that usually make up March Madness Cinderellas are the conferences that get labeled Mid-Major. I won't even name a few because I don't believe that's nice. So there.

But who's to say the Big guys aren't scrappy, or don't work hard. Granted they can get the bigger ticket athletes...the already-to-go pros. Correct me if I'm wrong but Cinderella had to go through an evil step-mother and two wicked step-sisters. Most of these so-called Cinderellas are battling Hi/Lo RPIs, Strength of Schedules, and a few out-dated sports commentators. That's way worse than what Cinderella was battling. Sorry Cindy, but if the smaller guys are going to be called anything, it should be funeral sacrifices of Pelops - you know the ancient Olympic games. Ok, so maybe that's a stretch. But you get what I'm saying.

All the work the teams do in their effort to be crowned the NCAA champion is a direct reflection of the programs' goals. Those 12 or so guys, coaching staff, managers, etc. put in time and work. Some nights the baskets fall and they advance, other nights a team can't find the bottom of the ocean if they were swimming in it. Win or lose, it doesn't make them a Cinderella simply because the size of the conference they come from or how many TV games they have.

In the end, it's the team that strings together 6 BIG wins (7 if you're the play-in team) beginning in mid-march and ending in April. Even Cinderella's fat fairy-god mother couldn't help with that. :)

Stussy

Stussy is one of those clothing companies that makes a statement without screaming...sort of. It's been one of my clothing loves for a long time...kind of like Diesel (coming soon to Squidoo).

Stussy is timeless. It's artsy. It's free. I love that it incorporates musical genres and pure skate & surf.

It's been around for a long ride and will be around for years to come. Enjoy!

Just a few lines about this lens. I love apple computers. Kind of a newbie...have been using them since 1998 but still learning something new with it's ever changing ways. It's kind of hard to explain my addiction to comp co. It's sort of like my love for hellokitty or basketball. It's just a passion that I have and enjoy to the fullest. Enjoy it with me whether you're a pc or Apple guru. Later much.

Basketball

This lens is a culmination of How-Tos and what were they thinking when they...you get the picture. I love basketball. It is a huge part of my life. I don't do fantasy or mock teams (maybe someday) but I do like to pick the top five or 10 during the season...be it NBA or NCAA; which coach is tops for the season; anything that PTI only spent a milisecond on. Got it...Good. I truly believe the point guard is an extension of the coach or leader of any program. Two of my favorite coaching books: Sacred Hoops (Phil Jackson) and Beyond Basketball (Coach Krzyzewski). Basketball is definitely about Spirit & Sport. :)

Hello Kitty

Why I like the cat. Well, growing up, I remember Hello Kitty was my all-time favorite store in the mall. I didn't care if I could only afford to buy a piece of gum, I had to stop and shop at the HK. Then the name Sanrio appeared one day and I thought she was gone...no not really but it made me aware, even at such a young age (age 7) that change was coming. No matter how many years come and go, I have always and will always be a lover of this kitty. She doesn't even have a mouth but she makes me smile. Til this day, when I see her, my heart skips a beat.
